Why does it sometimes take so long before the predictably outraged discover something to be outraged about in what I wrote? Aren’t they paying attention? But eventually they do, which never fails to put a smile on my face. Dance, my little puppets, dance:

I’ve commented before on the ignorance and intellectual incompetence of the self-styled ‘Emperor’ Misha, proporietor [sic] of the blog ‘Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler’.

Who is, at the very least, sufficiently competent to spell “proprietor”, but we digress.

He has provided new proof that wingnuts don’t really want law and order — they just want what they want, and to hell with any thought of doing it legally.

Oh? And how do you intend to prove that? Be still, my beating heart.

In a post regarding the arrest of an Australian man for allegedly firing a shot through the front door of his home to scare off intruders, he says:

Let’s revisit the arrested Aussie’s claim of “allegedly” having fired a shot to scare off intruders, shall we?:

The would-be intruders had thrown rocks through the front window and cut the home’s power supply before trying to jemmy open the front door.

Yep, I’d say that any reasonable person would conclude that the homeowner had reason to believe that there were some real intruders in need of being scared off. Note the operative word “reasonable” here. That means “not you”, “Thinking” Meat.

So what did I say that had “Thinking” Meat performing acrobatics through the flaming hoop that I had thoughtfully put out for him?

It’s a pity that he didn’t save a few rounds for the cops. That’s the only sure way to deal with Gestapo tyrants and their henchmen who are “only follovink orderz.” After a while, they get nervous from hauling the perforated bodies of their fellow goons back to the morgue.

And what did my little trained troll puppy have to say to that?

So Misha advocates killing cops rather than doing what civilized people do when they disagree with the law, which is to work to get the law changed.

Well, leaving aside for the moment (because it’s bloody pointless) the task of explaining hyperbole to “Thinking” Meat, there are situations in which “working to change the law” just isn’t an option and, more importantly, there are certain unalienable, inviolable rights that cannot be taken away by any law made by mere men, and any attempt to do so is illegal from the word “go”, no matter what “justifications” the tyrants may come up with.

That’s the larger issue.

The other issue here is that our poor, obviously endangered Aussie friend is now disarmed. He’s disarmed with a bunch of seriously pissed off goblins roaming his neighborhood, goblins that know that he’s been disarmed, thanks to Officer “Friendly” of the Geheime Staatspolizei. If the same “police” were trying to make up for the situation by posting guards around his house 24/7 until his firearm could be handed back to him and the real criminals in this case were apprehended and put behind lock and bar, then there wouldn’t be as much of an issue here.

You see, he was wrong to discharge a firearm through a door with no clear target. That’s one of the Big No-Nos of Firearm Safety and the responsible use thereof. Once you release that bullet, it belongs to you, no matter what it hits, and it will hit something. More importantly, it doesn’t care what it hits and yes, it is your responsibility no matter what, once it leaves the barrel. So there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the law poo-pooing his unsafe use of a firearm, although I’d certainly advocate cutting him some slack in the legal proceedings since, to most rational people (not you, “Thinking” Meat), having your power cut by goblins who then proceed to hammer down your door is sort of scary and it just might cause you to act with less careful consideration than you would normally employ.

But that’s not the issue here. The issue is that the “law” also arrested him for simply having a firearm and using it to defend himself, and they confiscated his only means of defending himself in the future against the goblins still at large, goblins that clearly have it in for him. If he ends up dead, the “law” will be as responsible for his death as the goblins will be. They have, in effect, rubbed him in raw beef and thrown him into the alligator pond. That’s murder, and in civilized societies, you are allowed to defend yourself against murderers, even if they wear a uniform.

The Jews of Germany meekly handed over their firearms in 1938, presumably hoping to subsequently “work to change the laws”, and look where that got them. And yes, “Thinking” Meat, if you think that I’d be advocating gunning down the Nacht und Nebel Sonderkommandos that showed up on their doorsteps, then you’re absolutely right. You, on the other hand, are obviously in agreement with the government of Nazi Germany. The Jews did the “mature and responsible” thing and handed over their weapons. They then became “mature and responsible” corpses.

That’s not the same as advocating shooting on gun-confiscating cops? Oh yes it is. You see, the German cops were acting in full accordance with the German Firearms Act of 1938, a piece of totalitarian shite that, by the way, bears a striking resemblance to our own Gun Control Act of 1968, the only noticeable difference between the two being that the totalitarian shits in D.C. had the courtesy to translate the original into English before passing it.

And, once you’ve lost the means to exercise the unalienable right to defend yourself against thugs, uniformed or otherwise, your ability to “work to change the laws” doesn’t mean fuck all. What are you going to do if the tyrants refuse to change? Bleed on them?

Which is, of course, why wannabe totalitarians will always move to take those scary firearms away from the people they want to lord it over before anything else, because they know that once the serfs and plebes are disarmed, they’re powerless to resist. They’re toast, done for, history, nothing but a loud rabble trying to stop the inevitable by crying and begging for mercy.

So yes, you’re damned right I will defend my right to defend myself, and that I will do so in any way necessary, because once I don’t have the means to do so anymore, I’m dead anyway. And if the swine are going to kill me, at least I’m going to make sure that they’ll have to pull the trigger and live with it for the rest of their worthless, useless lives.

What’s more, in this country I’ll have the Constitution on my side and, and I can’t repeat this often enough, when I laid down my Oath, I didn’t swear to defend and uphold the whims of whatever elected, transient clowns might be inhabiting the swamps of the District of Columbia, I swore to defend and uphold the Constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

That’s one of the reasons that our Oath is to a concept and not an individual or collection of individuals.

Those Framers and Founders were pretty smart, you know.

I don’t know what “civilized country” you hail from, but in this “civilized country” we stratify our laws into sets of “unalterable creator-endowed human right” and “pisspot bribed-Congressman written,” and we’re quite proud of the distinction.

So I read this post after returning from the local mil-surplus store where I purchased the hard case that Delta requires I place my handgun in in order to place it in checked luggage. I’m to travel next month from Florida to Texas to meet a brand new member of the family. Reciprocity checks out…and now I’m meeting the travelling requirements.

Everyone I know who carrys concealed is retentive about the related laws.

In the workplace I can spot the moonbat almost immedately. They’re the ones who kneejerk reply “why do you need a gun when travelling?”. Since there’s no satisfactory answer for them…I drop ‘em in their little box and ignore the question. Or I answer with an equally aghast “how can you not be armed when you’re out with the family?” To me it is incomprehensible.

It’s not just that some people will never get it…it’s that they don’t want to get it. Because so much of their little world would come crashing down upon them.

I suppose the correct attitude for me to take would be that…my being personally well armed is only a default threat to one class of ‘citizen’. If the moonbats wish to include themselves among that class…so be it. If/when they come after me…they’ll meet the same fate as the goblin.

I agree, based on my high respect for our boys in blue. And, based on that, I fully expect them to refuse to follow orders or turn in their badges should an unconstitutional order come down from DC to forcibly disarm the citizenry.

That’s what a fellow citizen would do, and that’s the least you can expect from somebody who wants to be considered one.

And then we’d have no problem, none at all.

I don’t see the need to post veiled, or not so veiled threats to our police officers.

It’s not meant as a threat. It’s a warning to those toying with the idea of “only follovink orderz”, thinking that that defense (also known as the Nuremberg Defense) will absolve them from consequences and/or responsibility.

    It won’t.

After the war, the Nazis who’d only been following orders and the “laws” of the Nazi government were held to account too, and so will any LEO thinking that anything is above the Constitution and the unalienable right to defend yourself. Only, I fully intend to hold them accountable during, not after.

All good liberals would like you to wait for the police and try to “reason” with the person who is trying to break in your home. We had a former roommate try to beat the door down and get back in the house. We were actually told that they could not do anything if he did break the door down since he technically lived in our basement. We had to go through all sorts of legal wrangling to get rid of him and he finally just got his stuff. It was a nightmare since the guy weighed about 400 pounds and was pretty intimidating. We even had to make a statement that we knew that the dude was not in the military.

I think most sane politicians (is that an absolute contradiction, or what!? :P ) understand that toying with the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms is political suicide on a national level. National.

Not, however, to be ignored on a local lOOpy-liberal level in blue states and lefTard cities. THERE, there could be cause for alarm. Where some local lOOn statute gets passed, and supported by some state court activist liberal jurists. perhaps even supported by that state’s highest court, until overturned on the federal level.

that is not to say that the choose-the-constitution-we-like liberals won’t try other tactics at gun control in the courts (suing manufacturers and other nonsense). their creativity in the courts knows no bounds, unfortunately.

Well Done, emporer. Ain’t troll plinking fun?

In my opinion, the question of safety concerning the mans use of indirect fire is directly proportional to the area that his house is sitting in. It was no doubt a risky thing to if he was living in a city, town, or apartment building. But if our Aussie freind just happened to be living in the middle of no where, on an isolated farm far from civilization, and he knew for a fact there would be no innocents even relatively nearby, then I would have to deem his use of indirect fire as safe and effective.

Either way you hack it, this does prove us Gun enthusiests right. His ownership and use of a gun prevented a crime from happening. Those goblins realized that they were dealing with an armed man, and decided to run like thier colons were on fire. Self defense is not suicidal as the “give the bad men what they want” crowd would have you believe, And in spite of the fact that he now sits in a jail cell, he has successfully prevented his family from being raped, robbed, and murdered.

It’s like hunting season just opened and all of the little critters spent every second of the off-season humping and procreating like crazy.

That’s an excellent point and I agree completely.

That, and again: Any armchair quarterbacks out there that would suggest waiting patiently for the door to break down etc. are forgetting that he was in a vulnerable situation where the shit was hitting the fan at high velocity, and anybody who’s ever been in a situation like that will know that the rules get a little more loose under duress. Not to say that your responsibility for anything that happens is any less, because it isn’t (you break it, you OWN it), but it is definitely enough to cut the shooter some slack in the “did he act appropriately?” dept.

Which, if he lives in a rural area in the middle of BFE, isn’t even an issue anymore as you so correctly point out.

I had a long talk with our police chief here in Dog Patch,USA. He is a Marine, as is our mayor. Small farming towns tend to be that way. I asked what the law said about using guns. He knows the wife and I shoot and approves of the wife having her own .45. My birthday gift for her fiftieth. But we too, have a twelve gauge here, she fired it right off, no problems and knows what it can do to a human body. Best bang for the buck. The rifle, one I fell in love with, also lethal. The chief simply told me, can’t shoot him outside, period…but if he falls forward no problem shooting him….just make sure you finish it permanently…….

I’m sure you guys are all great shots and have nerves of steel. However, there are cases of armed homeowners confronting unarmed burglars, who then wrest the gun away from them. I don’t think every one should have a gun for protection, although I don’t think any of you exactly said that.
I really don’t think anyone will be coming for your guns any time soon. Honestly, how would you disarm this country? A country full of pissed off gun owners would not be a pretty sight.
I know you can disable a dog, but having vigorous barking at my door would act as a deterrent to the casual goblin. He’s got a deep-throated bark, not a little yappie thing. Now, if someone were after me personally, I’m sure they could manage to pull it off. But that’s really unlikely. Anyway, I live in a really low-crime area and would not be a good person to own a gun.
I do have an axe. I should keep it by the front door! That could be fun, except that I wouldn’t want anyone to be afraid of me. Spouse would not be amused. Boy, speaking of the wresting away issue.

Interesting points, Psychochick, and well taken. But I have a few of my own as well. The riots in LA, a la Rodney King…the looters taking off running when the Korean shopkeepers starting plugging them. The men that raped my sister years ago. I would have blown their guts out, twelve gauge indigestion, with nary a regret. But consider the concept of being trapped in your house by gangbangers or some such lowlifes…..what would you do? These fuckers love fear…. If armed, I know what I would do…I am not an expert shot by any means, nor do I have nerves of steel. But I do know how to shoot my guns. My .45 is at condition three, the magazine loaded and the chamber empty. That status can be chaged in one second. I am very comfortable with my .45. I have greater ambitions in life than ending up a template for a chalk line, or having my last sight being knowing that my wife and daughter were to be raped and murdered……because I couldn’t stop them. It can reach a point where you ahve nothing left to lose, you know? I would love to have a couple big rotties around to eat these dudes but I’m afraid we have eight cats…..not so good with burglars. And what of neighbors? The women living alone near us, or old people? They know which households are armed and feel better for it….for they know where they could flee…with their kids. Anybody fucks with little kids, I hope God has a special place in hell for them….after I sent them there. I doubt their parents would mind……

    Romans 13:1-5
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

The reference was to old Viking Legend. When a Warrior is killed (honorably), he is carried over the Bifrost Bridge to Valhalla by the Valkyries. The souls he has killed in honorable combat accompany him as his servants and Honor Guard, forever. They wait on him, polish his armor and attend to the Warrior’s weapons, and genearlly syncophant around.

The Warriors fight all day in the service of Odin, parties all night with the Valkaries (Norse Hotties) and fellow Warriors, and generally has a great time.

If you haven’t run across it before, I’m surprised! It has often been mentioned that NOT EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A GUN. Having this particular tool, with no commitment to use it is a waste of your money, and a possible weapon to be used against you. We have often covered the topic of “think really hard about whether you would be willing to shoot before you buy a gun for home defense.”

Of course anytime there is a discussion about firearms the post tends to get long. If the discussion of what gun is best didn’t interest you, you may have passed on that thread before the people trying to decide if they want a gun or not post with their questions.

    Bayonet Training, Baby!

Just might have to Re-Enlist again, and introduce Khalid, Mohammed, etc… to the business end of a PIG sticker.

Last enlistment was 1/02-1/04… in the Army Reserve. Twas nice, and I had a wonderful 3rd trip to that shithole called “southwest asia”.

42 Yrs. old or not, I have already told my Ex, and my Son that I will likely put the uniform back on…

Seems “Thinking Meat” is living proof that beating meat is detrimental to ones cognitive functions. I wonder if he is going blind and has hair palms? I wonder if he goes to DemCongUnderground or MorOn.org for talking points before he posts on his site. Sad really.

PC, love to read your stuff. We’re set up similarly here.

I’m sure you guys are all great shots and have nerves of steel.

Not here! Last time we had an incident my heart rate was 200+ and my arms turned to licorice.

He’s got a deep-throated bark, not a little yappie thing.

Same here, screw the small stuff, get a damn DOG, not a barking cat. Yes, he can be disabled if the goblin is nuts enough to do that, but his REAL job is to buy me 20 seconds to get the gun, throw the phone to my wife, and start moving towards the threat. After the goblin is on his way to Hell, we’ll take the pup to the dog ER.

I do have an axe. I should keep it by the front door! That could be fun, except that I wouldn’t want anyone to be afraid of me.

Hmmm, if the Axe is by the door, in a break in, then the goblin will be between you and the axe. Get another edged weapon if that’s your thing, and keep it by the bed as well. Hang it off the nightstand, so you won’t waste time fumbling for it under the bed.

Last, I’m no expert, but am no fan of knife fighting. If the goblin has a gun, you’re in a classic ’sucks to be you’ situation. Next, if you’re fighting with a edged weapon, you’re within grappling distance, and, as a woman, you are at a big disadvantage. If your attacker is drugged up, he won’t react normally to getting cut.

Look, if you can kill with a knife, you can use a gun. The advantages are manifest.

There’s an actress out here that has a ranch and that has highly pricey German shepherds. Apparently, there is some secret command to kill that only she knows.

Snicker, if their mistress is under attack, no command is needed for GSDs. She will need a command to stop them, however.

I think the knife would be used after the gun. You have to dig the bullet out of the attacker to see how well it expanded, etc., and if you’re dissatisfied, change ammo for next time.

    Fuzzhead:

Personally, I always carry a knife, in addition to the 12 shot .45 you see in my icon (Para-Carry LDA) and the .38 snub in my boot. Most usually, a CRKT Mirage II. 3.25 inch lock blade, one hand opening, folds to fit any pocket.

Knives are just so damn handy, and sometimes the sound of a gunshot draws a crowd. Plus, makes a handy backup if the world goes to hell. Guns run out of ammo or break. A good knife won’t let you down, as long as you know it’s limitations.

Plus, as you so ably point out, they are handy as hell for when you don’t wanna leave any evidence behind . . .

A good knife is definitely the handiest tool to have around. There was a time when boys were basically expected to always have one. Now if you take one to school with you, you get kicked out of school.

And to think, I was one of those cops who didn’t understand this. That is, until I read Unintended Consequences by John Ross. Opened my eyes, it did. Now I make sure I talk very nicely to people until they force me to act otherwise. I want people to remember me as “the nice cop, don’t shoot him.” Some of my co-workers, alas, deserve what’s coming to them if they get caught in Civil War II. They’re the ones wearing black leather gloves in 105 degree heat and sunglasses at 2300 hours, just in case you get pulled over by them.

My wife wanted to know why the California Highway Patrol would send a bunch of officers to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I told her it was to confiscate guns from the citizens, as the local cops who knew the residents might balk at it. That was at 2145 hours. At 2200 hours, the local TV news led off with a story of the Chippies doing exactly that.

I got to use some cool power tools to replace the broken floor joists, after my wife’s jaw hit the floor.

One last thing: racking a round in a Remington 870 is a sound that everyone understands, whether or not they speak English. Sort of like the universal translators they had on Star Trek.

    ‘Met a few.
Easy smile is your only hope.
    From one sunny day’s encounter:
(Looks my ‘58 fully legal pan-shovel all around)
    “Where’s your front brake?”
“Over there, the only lever on the bars”
    “Then where’s the clutch?”
    “Down there, your side.”
    “But, that’s the brake pedal”
    “‘Brake’s down on this side”
“Then how do you shift gears?”
    “Glass doorknob by your knee.”

Each time you make him feel stupid, you take’s your chances,,.

“I’m writin’ you a warning, that custom tail-light is just barely visible”
    (2:00pm, bright daylight)
“OK sir, where do I sign?”

    Can you say “pucker factor”?
It would have been stupid to mention that the light (tombstone-real glass) was on it when the Lakeland P.D .bought it, when he’s already decided what to do.
