Dem Cong Defeated Again
Posted by: Emperor Misha I in Democrat Arses, Good News, The Long War12:40 PM
Looks like the Dem Cong “Terrorist Activities Protection Act of 2007″ went down to defeat.
I guess they won’t be looking forward to major raises after their next CAIR performance review.

I never understood why democrats wanted Americans sued by terrorists? I wish they’d just grab an AK47 and join the Taliban.

I have to disagree. This is a loss all the way. The law says that a JURY will decide if the reasonable suspicion requirement has been reached. That means the flying imam’s suit would still go forward and the “John Doe” will have to hire a lawyer to defend himself in hopes that a bunch of Code Pinkers aren’t on his jury.
“…any employee or agent of a transportation system shall be immune… ”
I wonder how long it will take a 9th ciruit judge to declare that agent of a transportation system means law enforcement only (FAA) and a flight attendant does not qualify and that telling said attendant does not allow immunity to be considered. Don’t laugh, worse things have happened.
The bottom line is you still get sued. You can get the lawsuit dropped with the reasonable suspicion but you still have to pay a lawyer to defend yourself AND if you get a handful of lefties and/or muslims you lose immunity and will more than likely have to pay the suspicious person. To top it off, you can’t recover your fees. If CAIR backs them and they drag it out for a few years, hello bankruptcy.
Please tell me how this is a win? Are we dumbing down victory that much? A win is you report and no lawsuit is even allowed to be filed. End of story. The person you inform judges whether or not to follow up on your tip. But once you report, your work and liability is finished.

It doesn’t appear to be all that much of a win to me either. Certainly not as much as King would have us believe anyway. We would still have to go to court and prove our suspicions were somehow justified and without malice or am I not reading this right? Would any of the Imperial Mouthpieces care to comment?

July 25th, 2007 at 9:14 PMIt was one comment from someone who doesn’t have a chance in hell of getting the nomination. The comment was specifically about mentally unstable people and criminals. That fits very few people here. They picked the videos out of 3000 submitted, so they probaby did pick the most psycho looking gun owner. And frankly, that gun was really scary.

They seek to infer by association that guns remain somehow related to danger and dnagerous people, ergo, the solution being to ban all guns. They don’t say it, they just seek to impart the thought. I’ve seen it before many times, usually from some demorat gun hater. Many of this pathetic ilk seek to direct you in your ways….all of them. I reject it. And so I own guns and like them, like shooting them.

Ya know, the case would be dismissed if the plaintiff and its lawyers simply *ahem* failed to show up for court.
July 25th, 2007 at 9:59 PMUsing
I’d prefer to make it a bit more explicit.
“Guns don’t kill people, people, (who have made up their minds that they want to kill, need to kill, and don’t give a rat’s ass whether it’s wrong or not, and will use ANY weapon at hand), kill people.”
July 25th, 2007 at 10:01 PMUsing
I think most of these people fear guns, Crunchie, masking their fear as concern for the welfare of others, in truth feeding their phobias. If I see a gun I do not know how to use, I leave it the hell alone and ask. Barring emergency, I will not touch another man’s gun without his permission. Just the way I was raised. Everybody owned guns, you simply didn’t think about it or notice them unless a real pretty one caught your eye. As witnessed by my Marlin ‘94 replica, octagional barrel, lever action, firing forty four mags at eighteen-fifty per second. A gorgeous gun, it was love at first sight. I caved and bought it. After all, explaining to the wife, my birthday was only nine months away…… It cost me a .45 though, hers. Her birthday only two weeks away.

I see your point. On the other hand, that would mainly be a problem in Blue States, and if that made Blue Staters afraid to protect themselves from terrorism and thus more likely to suffer an attack…
Sorry, I was daydreaming there for a minute.

Actually, Biden’s comment was a knee-jerk broad brush assault on all gun owners in that he judged someone he knew nothing about as mentally incompetent based on a single piece of video footage. Given that he is part of the lawmaking process and wields the kind of power that can affect millions of citizens his reaction should serve as a potent warning to anyone who takes their Second Amendment rights seriously.

I think you are right about stereotyping based on a video. However, one comment to get a laugh at a debate does not necessarily translate into active policy. He is one senator out of many and highly unlikely to get the nomination.
Frankly, after that video (specifically chosen to say “psycho”), I have an urge to see “Taxi Driver” again. (have a poster up in my home office, and we own the dvd)
Not to initiate a huge gun debate. Out of the 5 states I’ve lived in, the city I felt the least safe in was the one where people could carry guns. (although it was a bigger city than the others) I don’t think they were all wonderful, responsible gun owners, like you guys. It was more of the macho dickhead attitude–the people I would least like to have guns in public.
The old lady next door had a gun next to her bed. I would get home really late and let our Doberman out. She would disappear into the lady’s backyard, and I would quietly be going “Ruby” trying not to get shot.

PC,
Tucson, huh? I know some friends who live, or use to lived, there. All of them like guns, and called themselves the Tucson Mob. Before you ask, they were all responsible gun owners, so, no worry about them not knowing how to handle a gun.

I’m glad your friends were responsible, and Tsubaki seems to be. I used to work until all hours of the night and go home by bicycle when there was no one around. The only trouble I ever had was when a police helicopter was circling our block looking for a rapist–didn’t wait to lock up the bike that night.
When there would be a disturbance in the neighborhood (police helicopter), I always wanted to take the Doberman for safety and check it out, but I always got vetoed. Well, I said I was curious!
I had to delete a titillating post involving guns for privacy purposes. If anyone figures out who I am, certain people in my life will be a liittle less crabby.

How angry? Let’s just say he’s the kind of guy who likes to stick up for the soldiers, especially when they are in uniform, when faced by a leftie who have no idea what the heck the left wing hate rhetoric they are spouting.
