In case you’re wondering about the South Carolina Bombmakers, LC & IB Dan Riehl has just about everything you’ll ever need to know about it. Highly recommended.

But it wouldn’t be an Imperial Post if we didn’t steal a few sentences and throw some snark at it, would it? So here goes. First, the obligatory “nothing to see here” from the Federal Bureau of Indigestion:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI said on Sunday that there was no evidence of a terrorism link in the case of two college engineering students who possessed explosive materials in South Carolina over the weekend.

Why don’t the Quacks of Quantico just cut out the middle man, fire the entire agency and set up an automated recording saying nothing but “no evidence of links to terrorism, move along?” Nobody would notice as much as a hint of difference anyway, and we’d save a buttload of tax funds. Explosives? Nah, no terrorism here. Two Middle Eastern males between the ages of 18 and 45 driving the vehicle? Nothing to worry about. What are you? Racist???

The two men, described in local media reports as non-U.S. citizens of Middle Eastern descent, were taken into custody late on Saturday near Charleston, South Carolina, after local police noticed what looked like explosives in their Toyota sedan during a routine traffic stop.

The FBI said the material proved to be for making homemade fireworks, not dangerous munitions.

Fireworks for a wedding ceremony, we’re sure. Tell us: Where the fuck do we FIND those FBI blockheads, and how did they manage to survive to the age of majority?

“There’s no (terrorism link) that we’ve identified at this point,” FBI spokesman Richard Kolko told Reuters.

“They didn’t have a plastic ID card with the official al-Qaeda seal on it, so how COULD they be terrorists?”, he added while wiping the drool off his chin and adjusting the handles on his helmet.

And what about those “fireworks?”

Goose Creek - Two men are being held in the Berkeley County Detention Center after police find explosive making devices in their car. The men had at least one ready to go bomb and bomb making materials that include chemicals.

A cherry bomb! Nothing to see here! And if you don’t quit worrying, we’ll change the story again!

So who are those two innocent gentlemen driving around with the trunk full of “fireworks?”

WIS News 10 spoke with officials at the Berkeley County Detention Center who said 24-year-old Ahmed Mohamed and 21-year-old Yousef Megahed, the occupants of the car, are still in police custody.

Obviously those damn Presbyterians again. From a broad strata of society as well. To suggest otherwise would be a hate crime, and that will land you in jail on felony charges, don’t you know?

And via the Jawa Report, we get more reassurances that there is absolutely NO terrorism to be found here:

Officials say the men did not show up on any terror suspect list, and authorities don’t think they posed a threat.

After all, we all know that the only ones we need to worry about are the ones who have dutifully checked in with the FBI to get added to the list of terror suspects.

It’s not like they’re trying to hide or anything, after all.

Don’t you feel all better now, knowing that the safety of you and your loved ones are in the competent hands of those Sherlock Holmeses?

Me neither.

What a bunch of drooling, incompetent imbeciles. Couldn’t find a white sheet at a Klan rally.

[Update: 2 Florida students charged in explosives scare face $800,000 bond, guess the innocent students aren’t all that innocent huh? But CAIR insists the pipe-bombs were just leftover fireworks, buuuwaaaaahaaaaaa-JB]

I do not think they are part of a official cell, but why are people driving around with explosives anyway? How did they attract attention enough to be pulled over? I would be cautious of anyone driving around with bombs, unless they were on some kind of official business anyway. And no, I do not think it is racist to be particularly catious of middle eastern men, although you should not stop them for that alone-just because they are not part of an official group, doesen’t mean they are not part of an unofficial group :em71:

It could be that they didn’t know it was closed. Or maybe they really were making fireworks, which I doubt for some reason.

As for the Hunley, it was one of the best subs of the civil war. Sank one 1800 ton ship and killed 16 Confederates, including its inventor.

According to the liberals precious Geneva Conventions, these sailors are to be re-interred with full military honors. This would include the Stars and Bars being draped on their coffins. I know it’s in the DailyKooks, but before you shoot the messenger remember a broken clock’s right twice a day.

Welcome to another creeping slide towards the big brother state. On August 2, 2007 over two dozen agents of the TSA setup two checkpoints at bus stops in Indianapolis Indiana and searched passengers who wanted to ride on city buses. Federal agents, including Air Marshals were present and patted people down, looked in bags, and performed “behavior” tests for the stated purpose of finding weapons and people who were a threat to public safety.

They took air marshalls out of planes for this shit. To add insult to injury, they weren’t even properly briefed on Indiana’s weapons laws.

My wife has a cousin who lives in Indy and he was one of the lucky ones volunteered for a pat-down. He, like me, recognizes the value in being prepared for one’s own self defense. The screener asked if he could be patted down for weapons to which he responded “I’ll save you the trouble, my licensed handgun is on my right hip.” The screener thought he was joking. Once she realized he was serious she announced that there was a situation and called in the reinforcements.

He was told rudely “YOOOOUUU CAN’T CARRY A GUN AROUND HERE!” And he replied “I bet I can, this isn’t an airport…” By then a supervisor walked over, took a quick look at his Kentucky CCW and asked the Indianapolis PD next to him if it was any good. The Indy cop replied that a CCW from any state or country is valid in Indiana. So the supervisor declared in a loud voice to let him proceed, treat anyone with a CCW like a cop and pass them on. Needless to say though, he had a very quiet bus ride with lots of passengers staring at him the whole time.

Aside from being galled at the concept of this kind of thing, I think it’s pretty sad that the federal security professionals need to learn the rules as they go. One would think that if you were supposed to set up a checkpoint to screen for weapons, you’d do a preliminary check to see what was against the law in Indiana, what was permitted, etc. Goes to show how arbitrary the whole thing is.

    Here’s the link.
Turns out, law enforcement’s not too enamoured with this 18 month old federal program either.

The law enforcement association already was unhappy with an 18-month-old TSA program that teams the agency’s armed federal air marshals — who have law-enforcement powers — with unarmed screeners and inspectors on special units deployed at airports, rail and bus stations.

These squads, known as Visual Intermodal Protection and Response units, or VIPR teams, gained a higher profile earlier this month when they were sent to East and West Coast airports and other transportation facilities to beef up security patrols in the wake of terrorist incidents in England and Scotland.

“The teaming up of highly trained federal air marshals with civilian TSA screeners in uniform in front of airports and train stations is a recipe for disaster,” Gordon wrote.

Not to underscore the apparent stupidity of the press releases on this fracas, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned after eight years in law enforcement, it’s that there exists a very large difference between what most agencies tell the public and what they actually do.

Our unwritten rule at the moment is to tell the media absolutely nothing unless we simply can’t help it, and then make it as harmless and uninteresting as possible. Otherwise, they have a nasty habit of twisting words and making shit up.

    Speaking of Keystone cops…

NOBLE, Okla. — A stray bullet fired by a police officer trying to shoot a snake hit and killed a 5-year-old boy fishing at a nearby pond, officials said.

Austin Haley was fishing with his grandfather, Jack Tracy, Friday evening when Tracy said he heard a shot and saw a bullet hit the water just a few feet in front of the boat dock where he was standing.

Moments later, a second shot was fired that hit Austin in the head.

A Noble police officer who had responded to a report of a snake in a tree apparently fired the deadly shot while trying to kill the snake, according to City Manager Bob Wade.

Not buying any of this crap. Anyone familiar with SC knows you don’t make your own fireworks–there’s a Krazy Karl’s Kombustibles on every frickin’ corner.

It’s not clear if the item found in the vehicle is actually a bomb, said Bedier, of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

“If it’s clearly a pipe bomb that’s a different story. Then there is cause for concern,” Bedier said. “However, we have not seen consistent evidence that it is a pipe bomb. There is a lot of contradiction out there.”

So, they’re being charged with carrying pipe bombs. Hey CAIR, what’s you’re opinion? They’re innocent victims of… GET OUT OF HERE YOU LYING PIECE OF PROTOPLASM!!! :em98: I hope they throw the book at them if they’re found guilty.

you know, not to be hated or anything, but I had a friend, who with his brother, (non-Muslims) would go out to remote areas and explode pipe bombs for fun. If I remember correctly, the powerful blast from an acetylene bomb scared them off their hobby.

I think everything will hinge on their phone/e-mail records/internet sites. It’s a high bail–they won’t be going anywhere soon.

Of course their bottom feeding “defense” attorney says: The reason for these devices will be explained and my clients found innocent at a later date…

Well hell why dinja say so there slickmiester? Geeze we could of just avoided this whole nasty affair from the outset /sarcasm.

…..or maybe… you fucking low life scumbag weasle..you’re simply buying time so you can dig through the arresting officers back ground and find him to be *gasp* a racist!!, Or perhaps… time to find some arcane illegal search and seizure gobblygook to get the arrest thrown out on some bullshit ass technicality? Hmmmm?

Rope, Tree, Landshark lawyer….you know the rest.

Lot’ O signs out there folks, get ready. The Jihadis are ramping up….keep your weapons handy you might just have call to use em.

Hated? Not at all, and I most certainly hope that it goes for everybody here, because you’re absolutely right. Those two are innocent until proven guilty, just like anybody else. What is going on here is that we’re speculating based on empirical evidence.

Two muslim males, ages right for terrorists, transporting explosives… They fit the profile perfectly, and it would be stupid beyond belief to discard that.

But that doesn’t mean that they’re guilty unless proven so. It does mean that it isn’t “unfair” to be suspicious, but it certainly doesn’t mean that they haven’t the right to a fair trial.

The only thing I’m worried about is that the trial will be anything but fair due to pressure from interest groups and PC considerations, but that still doesn’t mean that you’re in the least bit wrong about keeping our minds open.

Just don’t keep it so open that your brain slides out :)

Nothing to hate PC…truth be known a lot of folks including present company have as a dumb kid gone out and tried to make a bigger bang…no pun intended, it’s a blast!

Secondly… there’s a difference to be had…15 year old bored as hell adolescent with no axe to grind and a few ounces of black powder and a blasting cap, is a far cry from two 20 something ME Muslims who have spent thier lives under the indoctrination of Isalm with pipe bombs in thier trunks lurking around a US Military installation.

Racial profiling or not these two butt-darts are the Websters’ definition of “Jihadist”. No amount of politically correct caterwauling is ever going to change that simple demographic except one group…the Muslims.

I found it highly intersting they both attend USF…Sami Al Arain ring a bell… anyone…anyone…Bueller?

You are right–it is highly suspicious. I just wanted to point out that some people do that for fun. They would probably go away from military bases.

You know, I was thinking (Oh dear God–not that!). We’ve been really lucky with accidental discoveries of terrorism. There was this one (if it was T).

Then there was that gang of kids stupid enough to take the video of them shooting and yelling Jihad to a store to have it transferred to DVD. I’m glad the clerk was bright enough to call the police. From what I remembered, they didn’t have a strong religious background, so they probably wouldn’t have been picked up from the mosque screenings (I assume they exist). They seemed like dumb fucks who wanted to cause trouble rather than some highly trained terrorist. But still, I’m really glad they got caught.

    Sir Christopher
I would laugh my ass off if you were in Santa Cruz. (Occasionally, I’m sadistic.)

    Humboldt County?

I trained this guy from HC (didn’t believe in keeping a lab notebook!) who was the prototypical precursor serial killer. I am almost positive he killed a transient on his parent’s large property, but it was so long ago I didn’t know if it was worth telling the police. It never occurred to me, but maybe if it’s a trend, it might be worth mentioning. He even showed me his FBI application, which is typical. antisocial, intelligent, massive underachiever. I don’t think he was cruel to animals–he used to raise chicks. He used to complain that he had to put up with a relationship to get sex.

PsychoChick, closer to Santa Cruz, where i’ve spent much time. Love Bonny Doon. But i actually live in San Mateo County.

i prefer the cities just south of it, Capitola, Soquel, Watsonville, Aptos. Nothing more santa cruzian than a white dude with faux dreadlocks painting swastikas on downtown buildings.

Oh yeah, I need to add this. Proving that a murder actually occurred, PC, is a different matter. The guy you mention might give you bad vives, but, unless you have any proof that he actually killed someone at his folks’ place, not much you can do about it. For all you know, the guy may just simply creep you out. Wouldn’t be surprised if that is all it is, he just simply creeping you out.

Nice post, my blog is about: Very seldom have I found two trout with the same markings. Browns are generally more wary by nature than either rainbow or brook trout……
