This Staff Sergeant says it better than most, Our Imperial Self included.

And I promise to keep stating and re-stating that message of his until I turn blue in the face, if needed.

I’ve done so in the past, and I’ll continue to do so until the Idiotarians either “get it” or go away.

No surrender, no retreat, no mercy.

If we gave a decoration for telling the truth, I think Sergeant D there would be bent double.

Now if only someone would actually -listen- to him who could rubberstamp some changes.

It’s too bad the Sergeant who wrote this has to remain anonymous.
I understand exactly how the guy feels.
Hopefully, some of those pencil pushing, pollwatching, assclowns in DC will read this and finally figure out just how fucking difficult it really is to fight a war.
As a nation, we should be ashamed of ourselves.

Perfect. Short and to the point. Where can I buy some bumper stickers with this slogan?

SSgt D has written an eloquent eulogy for the death of the American effort in Viet Nam, oops, I meant Iraq. 37 years ago it was “We the willing, led by the incapable, on behalf of the ungrateful, are doing more with less in order to prolong the inevitably unwinnable.”

This is breaking my heart to see this all over again, but I can’t keep but thinking that we never intended to win this war in the first place. And by that I want to take this all the way back to 2001 and the fight in Afghanistan.

In 1941, we had had 8 years to come to the realization that we were going to have to fight fascism. We understood that Pearl Harbor was a terrible attack, but we never doubted that we would win, despite an apparently insurmountable enemy, and ended up soundly defeating two of the most ruthless enemies we’ve ever faced.

Less than 25 years later, we engaged organized light infantry in a mixed environment, and despite inflicting an estimated 1.2 million casualties in 10 years of continuous fighting, were unable to achieve political victory on behalf of an ineffectual, corrupt “democratic” regime in South Viet Nam.

And today, despite all we are and everything we have, we can’t summon the gumption to win a single fight on open turf against disorganized light infantry?

Play the pipes lowly, bang the drum slowly, we’re marching to the grave of history.

Everyone is right in extolling the virtues of our armed forces, we have the best fighters with the best equipment on the planet. We just don’t have the stones to use them.
