When the Lamestream Midiots™ need to write a New Age Chicken Little™ story on a slow news day, what, and to whom, do they turn to for their Fool Fodder™? Why, a tornado in NYC and one of AlGore’s most high-profile High Priests of GlowBull Worming™, Doctor Fudge™ (aka James Hansen), of course!

Just check out the headline for this Putrid Pants-load of Pedantic Pandering™

Did Global Warming Cause NYC Tornado?

Nope. No agenda-driven headline there.

Now check out how the Ass-phyxiate Press™ scribbler, David Caruso, tries to establish his Unbiasedness Skreet Kreds™ by starting out his little Modern-day Grimm’s Fairy Tale™

(Note: All emphasis mine—B.)

NEW YORK (AP) — Flooded subways? A tornado in Brooklyn? It was tempting to blame it all on global warming.

Which you’ve just done, with subtle aplomb.

Plenty of public officials were doing just that in the aftermath of a short but violent thunderstorm that paralyzed the nation’s largest mass transit network and tore the roofs off limestone townhouses. But in reality, it is not quite that simple, weather and climate experts say.

But they’ll eventually get around to blaming it on precisely that. It’ll just take a few twists and permutations of the data.

The storm, which gathered strength over Pennsylvania, drenched New Jersey and then pounded the city at sunrise Wednesday was strong but not particularly rare for a hot summer day, said Jeff Warner, a meteorologist at Pennsylvania State University.

Pay close attention to that little bit of information. It’ll come in handy later on.

Climate scientist James Hansen, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies, agreed: “You cannot blame a single specific event, such as this week’s storm, on climate change,” he said.

Fair enough. But, as our intrepid readers will soon find out, Mr. Hansen will get around to blaming everything, from Shillary’s increased vaginal discharge to the decline in Slick Willie’s sperm count, on Anthropogenic GlowBull Worming™.

“However,” he added, “it is fair to ask whether the human changes have altered the likelihood of such events. There the answer seems to be ‘yes.’”

Yup. Severe thunderstorms are a completely new phenomenon in the United States, popping up only AFTER the invention of the steam engine and discovery of oil in Pennsylvania in the 1800’s.

Storms, Hansen explained in an e-mail to The Associated Press, are fueled by heat and moisture,…

No shit?!?! It’s a damned good thing we’ve got “unbiased experts” like Hansen to explain how those things happen or we’d have kept on thinking that Thor’s Thunderstorm Pixies™ were responsible for rain and lightning. What would we ever DO without “unbiased experts” such as Hansen? It’s not like any of us mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging plebes ever noticed an increase in thunderstorm activity on hot, humid Summer days or anything…

…and our atmosphere is becoming warmer and more humid.

And has been since the last woolly mammoth was skewered and grilled over a Neolithic campfire… But, please, do go on.

And that, other experts said, has tended to mean more rain and rain that is more intense.

Tell that to the areas of the country that are parched and thirsty at this particular moment in the space-time continuum…

Plenty of Brooklynites were thinking global warming. What else could be to blame for an honest-to-goodness twister in a place where the word “cyclone” usually means the roller coaster on Coney Island?

That’s because of bullshit, fear-mongering GlowBull Worming™ stories, such as this one, being constantly shoved into their soft little skulls for the last couple of decades. In the not-too-distant past, they would have chalked it up to “shit happening”. Instead of running around, pulling their hair out and screaming “The sky is warming!“, they’d have said “Damn, that was one helluva storm. Reminds me of the one dad told me about.

The city’s top water and sewer official, Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Emily Lloyd, said the deluge may be evidence that the region is seeing an increase in the type of intense storm cells that used to roll through only once every five or 10 years.

Or it could be evidence that your sewer system is getting increasingly decrepit and needs updating. It could also mean that the Earth and Sun are going through another cyclical shift in climate. Or it could mean absolutely nothing at all, except that it happened to rain really, really hard one day in Brooklyn.

And as his crews pumped millions of gallons of water from submerged train tracks, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Executive Director Elliot G. Sander said: “We may be dealing with meteorological conditions that are unprecedented.”

Uh-huh. We’ll insert an earlier paragraph at this point to remind the reader of the schizophrenic nature of this article. Journaljizmers don’t figure we’re “nuanced” enough to catch stuff like this. Remember the one we said to pay particular attention to?

The storm, which gathered strength over Pennsylvania, drenched New Jersey and then pounded the city at sunrise Wednesday was strong but not particularly rare for a hot summer day, said Jeff Warner, a meteorologist at Pennsylvania State University.

So, “not particularly rare” has turned into “unprecedented” in the matter of a few paragraphs, according to “experts” Hansen and Sander. Amazing, isn’t it?

Nationwide, total rainfall and snowfall increased by about 7 percent during the 20th century, and the precipitation falling in the heaviest 1 percent of storms increased by 20 percent, said Jay Lawrimore, chief of the climate monitoring branch at National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.

Or could it be that the data collection techniques & equipment, such as advanced rain gauges & radar, became better and more widespread as the century progressed? Naaah. Couldn’t be.

“It is undeniable that the heavy precipitation events that create flash flooding are becoming more common,” Lawrimore said.

There’s that latest “buzzword” again. It couldn’t be that increased urbanization & channelization have anything to do with increased flash flooding. Nope. Not connection there, whatsoever.

Also, all of those dams built in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s were only for making fishing lakes for the rich robber barons and their families. They had nothing, whatsoever, to do with protecting towns and people from frequent flash floods.

Climate scientists generally measure weather changes in decades or centuries, not years, and across vast regions, not individual cities.

And most of The Goreacles disciples conveniently ignore “inconvenient data” or manipulate their AlGorithms to make that data fit into their Great GlowBull Worming Scam™.

But New Yorkers could be forgiven for being suspicious that something about the weather has changed recently.

“This is supposed to be a rainfall event that is a once-in-a-decade occurrence - we’ve had three in the past seven months,” Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D-Soon To Be Indicted—B.) said Thursday, after the tunnels had mostly dried out from the latest deluge. “We’ve got a serious issue to worry about.”

OMG! Run for the hills! It’s GlowBull Worming™!

Some areas of Florida hadn’t seen a hurricane in almost half a century and then, in the span of few weeks, got THREE of them to cross directly overhead in 2004. How many hurricanes formed in 2006? Damn near zilch, that’s how many.

F.E.T.E.

If Hansen is so smart, and the proof-readers so talented, why did they allow THIS BS into the story? Oh, never mind, it SOUNDED good, but like the Globull Wormening, is not exactly accurate.

Plenty of Brooklynites were thinking global warming. What else could be to blame for an honest-to-goodness twister in a place where the word “cyclone” usually means the roller coaster on Coney Island?

A “twister” is a spinning column of air caused when dissimilar air temperatures in a thunderstorm cause it to attempt to “vent” the colder air from the thunderstorm cloud. It’s a limited time, local event, that, while violent and destructive, is short lived.

A “cyclone”, on the other hand, is a large area of multiple thunderstorms and precipitation circling in a counter-clockwise direction (in the Northern Hemisphere)around a low pressure system. A tropical cyclone is a cold core centered system that draws it’s energy from the surface of the ocean while a sub tropical system is a warm core low that can sustain itself with little or no input from the ocean systems. Cyclones cover large areas and usually last from hours to weeks.

But, to Brooklynites, there probably ISN’T a difference according to the MSM, since ALL of us are morons that know nothing about the weather.

Kiss my ass, I know the globe is getting warmer, so is Mercury, Venus and Mars, and at approximately the same rate as Earth. Damn all those aliens and their carbon fueled SUV (Space Utility Vehicles)! What, there aren’t any? Ah hell, that must mean that large ball of nuclear energy is increasing the heat on the planets, not man OR animal (farting cows, et al).

GIGO still applies, doesn’t matter the subject. Or, for that matter, whether it’s a mechanical computer or the brains of those humans unable to think for themselves.

Actually, tornadoes are not unusual in the tri-state (NY, NJ, CT) area - uncommon but not unusual. They mostly seem to be in Westchester County. There are about 13-14/year.

As far as the disgraceful transit situation is concerned, I guess it’s easier to blame that on Global Wormening [TM] than on lack of proper maintenance, i.e. keeping the vents and drains clear, pumps up to standard, stuff like that. BTW, it was in the 50s in NYC yesterday. So much for the Wormening [TM] But, oopsie, I forgot that we must use the term Climate Change [TM] to cover any other weather phenomena other than heat. I can’t stand this stupidity any more! :em98: :em41: :em12:

First rule of Global Warming….anything that happens is proof of Global Warming. Too much, or too little rain? Tornados, or lack of tornados? Too hot, too cold? Glaciers advancing, or retreating? Sea level rising, or falling? Deserts shrinking, or expanding? Polar ice increasing, or decreasing? NE US plunged into arctic like conditions, or desertifying? Sea surface temperatures increasing, or decreasing? Increase in hurricanes, or a decrease? Global Warming theory confidently predicts all these things, (ok…some were after the fact, but that only serves to demonstrate how amazingly resilient AGW theory is).

But that’s the beauty of it, Hunter. As long as no one is closely following everything they say, they can claim whatever they want. But, once someone catches them talking out of every side of their mouths by claiming that global warming is the cause for everything, watch the fun as they try to claim they never said that. Just keep them on their toes until they finally trip up and then pounce on their asses. Eventually, folks will realize that most of them are just liars and thieves, taking government money because they just happen to know how to shovel shit that certain folks want to hear and believe in.

There were a couple of notable things in that article…namely:
1…CNN still refers to them as “militants”
    2…

Two girls and two Afghan soldiers were wounded during the fight in Uruzgan province, it said.

what happened here? the “militants” couldn’t hit any of OUR “militants” so they shot up a couple of girls?…typical, but I bet our soldiers will be investigated for it.
    3…

Also in southern Afghanistan, Dutch soldiers fatally shot a motorcyclist who approached their convoy and failed to heed warning signals and shots, the Dutch Defense Ministry said.

Good for the Orangemen, keep shooting straight.
    4…

International forces are often the targets of suicide bombers, and they repeatedly warn Afghan civilian motorists to slow down or steer clear of convoys so they are not mistaken for attackers. Several civilians have been killed in such incidents.

ummmm….the “militants” are technically civilians, they wear no uniforms and belong to no army….thanks for the clarification cnn.

    Sire,
My apologies for not being attentive.
Your post under “If It Wasn’t For Bad Luck…” indicated that you had abdominal pain. Don’t mess with this! A year ago I had abdominal pain - it felt like I was passing a ball of sandpaper. It happened three times before I went to the doctor. It turned out to be colon cancer. Last year (April) I had surgery. Last fall was chemo - a nasty but necessary time. My last colonostomy was clean. Take care of yourself. Don’t take the chance.

    Guido,

From what I understand, it’s hotter there than here…so let’s BOTH blame it on Oklahoma!

So how is it that Oklahoma gets all the blame for the oppressive, redneck wife-beating heatwave in Nebraska and Kansas??? I assure you, we had nothing to do with it! I suggest you blame it on all the globe-killing, farting cattle in your own backyards!

A little OT… I got a new computer a few days ago and they sent me an ILLEGAL ALIEN KEYBOARD by mistake! It fits all the criteria. It no habla inglés (unless you hit it really hard), it did not come with a green card, and it entered the country in the back of a hot truck with a lot of other illegal alien keyboards. The hippies at Apple told me it was their bad and will send me a DOCUMENTED English keyboard - made in China.

Wonder if I can get my illegal alien keyboard to build a house for me before I have to turn it in?

Climate scientist James Hansen, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies, agreed: “You cannot blame a single specific event, such as this week’s storm, on climate change,” he said.
“However,” he added, “it is fair to ask whether the human changes have altered the likelihood of such events. There the answer seems to be ‘yes.’”

So ow it’s okay to debate this issue? Dayum, I thought it was settled and there could be no more discussion.

Here in Spokaloo (Spokane), it’s breezy, sunny, and will approach 90 degrees today. Since it cools off to about 55 at night, all I have to do is open windows at night and close them in the morning to avoid AC use altogether. Insulations is gooood.

As for the Rocky Mountains (Long may they wave!), we’re using them as ricochet stoppers. We also grow deer, elk, bears, salmon and trout in them.

    Maan I hear ya MasterGuns
‘Gotta a knockoff of a Remmington .44 capgun, hogslayer.

Use a BP wep or a handgun for sport……

Not everyone can sneak up on a herd, each guy in the group takes’ a buck without spookin’ them all.

It’s tedious, gettin close enough to send a bolt or shaft through the sweet spot when sabots and optics takes ‘em from the next zipcode. ‘Reckon that’s when your goin’ for trophys.

Ain’t never got one with a bow or crossbow m’self, yet, but pulled hide for some cousin’s that are jealous about where they take ‘em, ‘don’t want to use noisy guns,,though they’re never far ‘way.
They freeze up stuff for winter. Big family/neighborhood. ‘Lotta that still goes on all over the US and Canada. Gotta respect ‘em, even if they are family,,
Crossbows are very star-wars and stealth nowadays.
Gotta respect the folks that use feathers n blades.

Yo MasterGunny! I’d probably starve if I only had a bow to rely upon! The bow, however, significantly lengthens the Bambi season here. That means less time refereeing fighting kids and more time makin’ my moves on Mother Nature. Alternates to the bow? Got a TC Omega BP wep arriving tomorrow, along with a pair of Ruger #1s (.308 and 22-250) and a Mini 14 coming this weekend. Handguns are covered with an original long-barrelled Ruger Redhawk in .44MAG (and a very rare version in .357MAG), both I’ve had for years. I’m trying to find a Model 20 Glock with Tritium sights as an alternate to the hand-crushing BARs (Big-Ass Revolvers). Seems I have all bases covered! Well, except for garroting, harpooning and hand-to-hand combat. Not bad for an Ain’t Ready to be a Marine Yet puke!

I will say this about my bow skills, I can easily group 6 arrows in a 4 inch ring at 20 yards on a plastic deer. Too bad that doesn’t mean dick when a real live 10 pointer is strolling by at the same distance…

BTW - MCB-Oki IG poking nose into things. Maybe hear sumpin soon…
