They were bound to succeed eventually, but that doesn’t make it any less tragic.

Say what you will about her politics, the fact remains that she was an incredibly brave woman and a staunch ally against Sharia and 7th century attitudes towards women. In the middle of an pisslamic cesspool, no less. We dare say that none would have thought less of her if she’d decided that it was safer to continue the struggle against medievalism from outside the dark center of it, but she’d have none of it. She refused to be scared or intimidated and kept coming back. A truly brave soul that will be missed a lot.

First the “Peaceful, Inner Strugglers” of pisslam tried murdering her by blowing up a one-year-old infant, then they tried using a fifteen-year-old and now, well who knows? We suppose we’ll find out once they collect enough pieces of the scumbag. Much to nobody’s surprise, al-Qaeda claims responsibility. Except for liberals, of course. They’ve been telling us for years now that there is no threat and no war on terror, but let’s not bring the differently abled mental midgets into this.

Needless to say, this is bound to make things rather interesting in Pakistan for a while.

The reactions from abroad are all over the board, ranging from the inane to the plain stupid.

President Bush digs out his old script, dusts it off and demands a thorough investigation and that the guilty ones be “brought to justice.” Right, Georgie. Let’s send the Feds, have them sift through the body parts and then send them off into al-Qaeda territory with a SWAT team and a stack of arrest warrants, why don’t we?

Here’s a novel idea for ya: Why don’t we send in a wing of Buffs instead and carpet bomb every square fucking inch of the hovels that the cowards are hiding in? That’s how we used to fight wars, you know. We don’t recall Eisenhower demanding that we send a bunch of detectives to Berlin to arrest Hitler, nor can we think of a single instance in which Roosevelt called for Tojo being “brought to justice.”

Bill Richardson, one of the Dhimmicrat Hopefuls, on the other hand insists that the only logical thing to do in the aftermath of an al-Qaeda terrorist attack is to… hold Musharraf accountable and call for his resignation:

We must use our diplomatic leverage and force the enemies of democracy to yield: President Bush should press Musharraf to step aside, and a broad-based coalition government, consisting of all the democratic parties, should be formed immediately. Until this happens, we should suspend military aid to the Pakistani government. Free and fair elections must also be held as soon as possible.

The Stupid™ is strong with this one.

We’ll remember that the next time there’s a shooting in Dallas. We’ll immediately demand that the Mayor resign. What is it with liberals and their pathological inability/refusal to place blame where it belongs?

We’re no fan of Musharraf, as a matter of fact he’s entirely too lukewarm in his pursuit of al-Qaeda for our tastes, but somehow we don’t think that bringing in a squabbling coalition (that would most certainly include a fair number of criminally insane Islamofascist whackjobs) to replace him is going to improve the situation here.

Pakistan is staring at a major domestic crisis here, you might even go as far as calling a looming civil war an actual emergency, and we don’t think that the solution lies in bringing in everybody for a social where they can sit around fiddling and discussing their grievances while Islamabad burns. Which, truthfully, we normally wouldn’t give two shits about, but they happen to have nukes too, which makes for a completely different ballgame.

Just sayin’, is all.

UPDATE: Bill Richardson’s mental diarrhea about ousting Musharraf and replacing him with some mythical “broad coalition” is particularly stupid when coupled with this little snippet about the actual political reality of Pakistan:

A recent CNN poll showed that 46 percent of Pakistanis approve of Osama bin Laden.

Aspirants to the American presidency should hope to score so highly in the United States. In Pakistan, though, the al-Qaeda emir easily beat out that country’s current president, Pervez Musharraf, who polled at 38 percent.

Yep, that’s right. Forty-six percent of Pakistanis approve of bin Laden. Clearly, the best thing to do right now is to bring those forty-six percent into government and put them in control of Pakistan’s nukes.

Also remember that our quarrel isn’t with the people in general, it’s with an extremely small, radical, out-of-the-mainstream minority. Right?

That was sarcasm, by the way.

…there’d be rampant rape of Arabs going on in the Terrortories 24/7.

Such is the conclusion of this heap of garbage produced by a bunch of leftist Israeli academics who have been scratching their pointed little heads trying to figure out why the IDF stubbornly refuses to fit the stereotype of them that is so wildly popular in the leftist alternate reality.

The abstract of the paper, authored by doctoral candidate Tal Nitzan, notes that the paper shows that “the lack of organized military rape is an alternate way of realizing [particular] political goals.”

The next sentence delineates the particular goals that are realized in this manner: “In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it can be seen that the lack of military rape merely strengthens the ethnic boundaries and clarifies the inter-ethnic differences - just as organized military rape would have done.”

Damned if you rape, damned if you don’t. Both are “evidence” of rampant racism in the IDF, according to those tenured cluetards.

The paper further theorizes that Arab women in Judea and Samaria are not raped by IDF soldiers because the women are de-humanized in the soldiers’ eyes.

Really! Aren’t Arab women good enough to rape for you evil, racist, Zionist overlords??? This will not stand! From here on out, there MUST be mandatory rape sessions in the IDF. It’s the only humane, NON-racist thing to do!

Bumblefucked Yutzes.

On the other hand, if you want to know the real reason why the IDF aren’t habitually raping Arab females, other than the obvious one that the IDF, unlike their opponents, aren’t savage beasts, here’s a gentle hint.

Unless you’d rather be left with a choice between Hickabee and Mitt “My Position, My Friend, Is Blowin’ In The Wind” Romney (or even, *shudder*, John McAmnesty McVain), that is.

Sitting here enjoying my “boys” enjoying thier new toys I am filled with pride, joy, and more happiness than anyone person ought to be allowed to have. I am SO thankful for my “boys”. Misha with his new cordless tools, Christian with his new guitar ( and totally rocking), Luke with his skateboard and hot wheels set, and Maverick with his raw hide bone (LOL). MY boys! I love each one of them dearly. I wish everyone in the world could feel what I’m feeling now!

Now that we have enjoyed our traditional Christmas morning I want to wish all our beloved LC’s a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year!!. We are blessed to know you and have y’all as a part of our lives. Thank you for your support, it means the world to us!

Also I want to thank all the men and women of our armed services for giving me the opportunity to celebrate Christmas the way I always have, and the blessing of being able to enjoy watching my “boys” enjoying their new toys. It means the world to me to be able to have these experiences. Thank you Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines!!!! We love you too and support you 100% for everything you do. This country is soooo blessed to have selfless people that are willing to risk their lives for others!! Never let anyone tell you ANYTHING any different than that. If they do, please remember my words–”little people”, ordinary everyday american citizens love and support you and what you stand for no matter what politicians or journalists try to tell you!

I also want to remember the families of our awesome military! Thank you to all the military families for sacrificing time with your loved ones so that my family is able to enjoy freedom, and do the things we love to do (like going to the gun range to shoot)! We love and support you too. Without y’all this country would be in a fix because I doubt that we would have the best military in the world. So Thank You to all the military families…. I just cant say that enough because y’all dont hear it enough!

I also need to thank Jesus because without Your blessings, love, and forgiveness I would be unable to fully appreciate and enjoy all the things I do. Thank You Jesus for being in my heart and in my life, and for my beautiful family (which i cherish). I ask in Jesus name, Please watch over and bless our extended Rottie family as well as our military and their families. Amen.

Christmas is a time of miracles. It’s a time to celebrate Good Tidings of Great Joy. A time when we put on display the inherent good will and love for our fellow man that so often lays dormant the rest of the year.

But mostly it’s a time of miracles. So as my Christmas gift to you, my fellow Rotties, my family, I give you this story of a miracle.

Merry Christmas everyone, may God Bless each and every one of you.

39 years ago this evening, December 24, 1968, three intrepid Americans, jammed into a capsule slightly larger than a telephone booth, made history. Having traveled farther from their natural home, than anyone in history, their Apollo capsule had entered Lunar orbit. On that evening, those of us having attained a certain age, remember well their transmission from the lonely reaches of space, far from home and family. The crew had debated what they might discuss during the short broadcast.

The crew recognized immediately that the subject should be that blue marble nearly a quarter of a million miles away, Jim Lovell had this to say “The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize what you have back there on Earth.”

Being at the height of the cold-war, thoughts of the continuity of our civilization were an ever present, unwelcome part of life. Seeing the earth from Lunar orbit as the only possible place where men might survive undoubtedly crossed their minds that evening.

Perhaps from no other place, than the black, airless, frigid void of space, can one appreciate the vastness of G-d’s Creation, the Universe and this tiny, inconsequential speck within that universe that we call home and Earth.

Surrounded by a hostile environment, that would result in near instant death on exposure, it’s easy for a mortal to recognize your own frailty and that this planet is indeed an ideal space-ship for man. Perfectly designed, built and operated, such that nearly hairless, weak bipedals capable of rational thought, dreams and the appreciation of a Higher Power at work, could not only survive, but thrive.

Perhaps other men, might have thought of themselves as deities, having achieved such a miraculous task, undertaking a voyage that even Columbus couldn’t dream possible. But that crew, knew, well and truly, that the Universe operates under the supervision of something that we don’t have the facilities to describe, merely a name to describe the utterly indescribable.

G-d Almighty.

These three brave men, aviators and American heroes, Mission Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders, at that time and place knew, that recognition of the Creator was in order, and as such, began the final portion of the transmission of Apollo 8, reading from the Book of Genesis, describing the Creator’s labors resulting in the cradle of humanity.

William Anders:

“For all the people on Earth the crew of Apollo 8 has a message we would like to send you”.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

Jim Lovell:

“And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”

Frank Borman:

“And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”

Borman then added, “And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you - all of you on the good Earth.”

And on this evening, may we wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and G-d’s Blessing to all of goodwill, on the Good Earth. —JB and Country Red

Since the time of Imperial Rome man has gone to war with dogs by his side. In those barbaric days war dogs were unleashed to thin the enemy line and strike fear in their hearts. There was no thought to the dogs well being or to his other innate abilities, only the strength of is jaws, the sharpness of his teeth, and the viciousness of his heart.

Today we have a different relationship with our war dogs. They are valued as fellow soldiers and Marines, as special warriors with exceptional and unique skills. Their wounds are tended and their futures provided for. And it is an investment well worth the expense. Since WWII, war dogs have demonstrated their invaluable skills and devotion to their handlers. Their keen sense of smell could detect an ambush or sniper, and they could actually hear the wind “singing” across booby trap trip wires. Being more in tuned with their instincts, the could sense things that even the most combat experienced grunt would miss. There is the story of the Army dog handler in Viet Nam who received a new war dog, a rambunctious and stubborn German Shepherd. War dogs were in constant demand and the handler found his self on point with a dog who seemingly refused to listen to his commands. Moving through a field the dog would guide left, then right, going his own direction and ignoring the handler, who found his self along for the ride, as was the platoon following them. When they had crossed the field the platoon commander called a halt and approached the dog handler, who braced himself for an ass chewing of monumental proportions. Instead, the Lieutenant praised him and his dog for avoiding all of the mines and booby traps that his men had found at every “undisciplined” turn the dog had made. Later in his tour the same handler lay exposed and wounded in the middle of a firefight. The rambunctious Shepherd grabbed his LBE gear with his teeth and pulled him to safety. He then covered the handler with his own body and took five rounds that would have hit him instead. That kind of bond is as deep as any bond shared between men in combat. One such bond has come full circle this week.

Unfortunately, it’s only humorous because the potential goblin they encountered was me. Otherwise they might have spent the Christmas Holiday in ICU or in the coroner’s refrigerator and that is hardly humorous in the least.

My apologies to properly trained Security and/or Law Enforcement types among us. We’ve all seen some tactical clusterfucks of the highest order but this one is deserving of recognition here at the Rott.

While we’re at it, the following object lesson could very well apply to anyone of us, approaching a suspicious vehicle. So…On with the misadventures of Dumb and Dumber, that by the Grace of G-d, went home last night.

The Setup: I’m out doing my thing in a city that is one of the rougher places in merry olde New England, and an area of said city that most decidedly is NOT where anyone would really want to live in, let alone drive through. Simply put, Gringos that don’t habla are most unwelcome.

So, here I sit on yet another long evening surveillance, all tucked in nicely along an alleyway that leads into the housing project where my claimant (aka Bad Guy) is hanging about. I’m backed in against a nice high security fence to avoid those pesky unwanted visitors approaching my six. To my right conveniently parked is a commercial van, giving me nice cover from vehicles leaving the area. Perfect. I’m not worried about who is coming in, yet I’ve got the seat pushed back and reclined, so all but the most perceptive vehicle/occupants will notice that someone is in the van as they arrive. I’ve got a nice view of the registration of departing vehicles so all is okey-dokey for da’ job tonight.

From all of us at the Imperial Palace.

Kick back, relax, unplug from the rat race and spend some time with your loved ones, remembering to concentrate on the fact that you’re with your loved ones. Deadlines, bills and all of the other stuff that keeps us from enjoying the fruits of our labor and the many blessing in our lives can wait. It’ll all still be there after the holidays whether you waste precious time fretting about it or not, so DON’T.

In what may seem like a violation of our own Imperial Holiday Policy, we’d also like to forward Fred Thompson’s Christmas message to you. But only because he, unlike any of the other candidates, none of whom are worth wasting five bloody seconds on, completely fails to use his message to bloviate about his own greatness and eminent suitability for the office of President. In fact, he doesn’t talk about himself at ALL, which is a refreshing change in a politician, to say the very least.

Instead, he talks about the only ones other than the loved ones you’re spending the holidays with that you SHOULD spend some time thinking about:

Because if it weren’t for them, you wouldn’t be spending the holidays in peace, prosperity and safety at all.

Coincidentally, if you too think that Fred! is to be commended for this message and that he’s the kind of person we need in the White House, you can donate whatever spare change you still have left to him here. He needs it, and America needs HIM.
