In the wake of yet another stabbing and a bikie shooting, the Australian government has turned to a knee jerk reaction , as always, with more laws, a “crackdown” demonising the legal gun owners. The law abiding are, as always , wearing the idiocy of a government that cannot, will not or refuses to accept that criminals do not obey the law, and that any raft of buybacks, amnesties or other legal mumbo jumbo will result in nothing more than muted laughter and studied ignorance.
The law abiding take care of their weapons and lock them away and obey the raft of rules and regs and make sure than in the case of a home invasion or other crime, their firearm is safely locked away and disassembled, the ammunition stored elsewhere.
God help them if they ever think of using it to defend themselves…the law in this country ensures that any home owner or gun owner that uses said gun for self defence will find themselves in jail for thirty years for attempted murder or murder…that they were using necessary force to defend their homes is, of course, irrelevant.
The rights of the criminal must be respected, says the nanny state. If there is a crime..call the police….and of course, as we all know, the criminal will just sit there and wait for the police to arrive..IF they ever get there.
When seconds count,..the police are only minutes away.
The claim that legal gun owners supply criminals with firearms is a blatant and convenient lie, as the NSW police have openly admitted on at least three occasions that they are singularly unable and incapable of preventing the flow of illegal weapons.
Never mind that more than 85 percent of all illegal gun crime is committed with illegal weapons.
Never mind that there are still at least five high explosive rocket launchers in the hands of criminals, said rocket launchers remain at large and as is the reality, the chances of them being recovered ranges from slim to none.
Never mind that criminals in Sydney have access to all the guns they want, that gun murders occur daily, that despite the pleadings and teary plaints of bleeding heart liberals, the stabbings and assaults and murders will continue unabated.
Laws do not matter to the lawless. Now, then, ever.
More gun laws, more bans , more regulations…and we, like Europe and the UK, walk the same path into the abyss.
The UK has draconian gun bans and knife bans and knife control and laws and “crackdowns”..yet the violence spirals out of control and people are murdered every single day.
A police “sweep” in London netted 100 people for “knife crimes” (said crime being having a paring knife in a bag with which to cut an apple…never mind, sir off to jail you go”. Self defence is not an excuse.).The “sweep ” was trumpeted as a law enforcement victory..what it was, was an exercise in futility and public relations.
The murders continue.
Athens is burning. Belgium is in flames.
Thugs run riot in the street and people barricade themselves in their homes. None of them will be able to reach for a firearm with which to defend themselves and their loved ones, for they too have been disarmed.
From gun control to knife control, bans, laws, laws and more laws…all, in the end, utterly impotent against a well armed and ruthless criminal element who do not care one whit for any law…and who will do whatever they wish, regardless.
As always, the nanny state will only affect the law abiding, whose freedoms and rights are already under threat. Alice Springs now holds a singular distinction, as does its sister city in the US, Washington DC…Washington is the state with some of the most draconian gun bans and laws..and is the murder capital of the US..Alice Springs, with all its gun laws and knife laws…is now the stabbing capital of Australia.
Venture out after 10pm at your imminent peril…and woe betide the citizen who is caught with a defensive weapon on their person, for they shall go to jail. A few days ago a mugger was arrested after six assaults, and had two knives on his person…his targets were, to a man, unarmed and defenceless.
Mumbai will go down as the epitome of the futility of gun laws and gun bans and knife bans and weapon laws….as hundreds were massacred with “illegal weapons”…the citizenry, yet again, becoming nothing more then moving targets for well armed terrorists.
Every single gun rampage, every single massacre, every mass murder…all have had one thing in common.
From the very first moments the terrorists began their rampage, they fought back.
They never gave an inch, they never backed down. They did not negotiate, they did not hesitate to put their bodies and their lives between the hostages and those that wanted them dead.
Amidst the bloodied streets, screams and explosions, they followed orders, planned and executed rescue after rescue, kicking down doors and dragging terrified people out of their hiding places, racing them downstairs and into a protective shield.
Indian soldiers stormed the last hideouts of Islamist militants in Mumbai this morning as the bloody confrontations that have left at least 120 dead
We Australians now owe our Indian brothers a debt of blood that can never be repaid..to each and every one of them, we extend our deepest thanks and our humble gratitude.
It is testament to their skill, training and courage that only three fell in the fighting.
May their families know healing in their time of grief…and may they also know that because of their sacrifice, hundreds more will see their loved ones again. They faced evil incarnate…and sent them straight to the Hell they came from.
Every last terrorist was forced to either lay down their arms, or die where they stood.
Not one inch was given, no quarter, and no mercy.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends
The nightmare we all expected came to pass in the night. A town known for Bollywood,a burgeoning and successful film industry and a major tourist attraction is burning.
Instead of firecrackers, the chatter of automatic gunfire. Instead of laughter in cafes…faces cower beneath tables and behind windows, as terrorists search for Australians to kill.
Snipers have taken up positions around the luxury Taj Mahal hotel, where guests were seen lowering themselves to safety using blankets tied together.
There was also a standoff at the Oberoi Trident hotel, where at least two gunmen were believed to be holding out with around half-a-dozen hostages.
Over 100 dead including an Australian, over 800 or more injured. An Australian trade delegation managed to escape but others remain hostage. The Taj Mahal, one of the greatest sites in world history was set on fire, believed extinguished.
3 police staff have so far been killed - The high-profile chief of the anti-terror squad Hemant Karkare was killed; Mumbai’s additional commissioner of police (east) Ashok Kamte was gunned down outside the Metro; and celebrated encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar is dead.
Targets were the CST (formerly VT) rail terminus; the Taj Hotel at the Gateway and the Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point; the domestic airport at Santa Cruz; the Cama and GT hospitals near CST; the Metro Adlabs multiplex and Mazgaon Dockyard.
This was no single raid or attack..this was a concerted and well coordinated assault.
This from a reader at news.com.au
“A close friend of mine, 25yo female, Australian, was at the Leopold cafe during the attack.
She is currently being held along with other foreigners at a nearby police station.
The police won’t let them leave, but she is worried she will miss her flight to London which is only 7 hours away from now.
She saw people being gunned down, and said “there was blood everywhere”, and they and the upstairs patrons barricaded themselves in the top level and hid for 10 minutes before the police arrived.
An Australian solder has also been killed in Afghanistan today.
Pray for those whose loved ones are missing. Pray for those who grieve. Pray for those who are trying to get away before they become pawns in a bloody game of Danegeld.
President Bush has been demonised for eight years.
Whats left of his reputation has been wrecked by the Press and worse, he has been stalked by a psychotic Cindy Sheehan with the gleeful help of the Left.
You remember her?The sick twisted “Peace Mom”?You don’t mention her any more, do you..whats the matter…I guess she served your purpose well, didnt she?
Had you lot supported him instead of trying to undermine him, the outcome may have been very, very different. And it could have started with you lot not screaming at the top of your voices that he lied, when he did not, and you lot fucking well knew it.
I’ll tell you this,..in this country, Sheehan would be in prison for being a fucking psychotic stalker. How many death threats? How many vicious lampoons and attacks and assassinations of his character?
How many times have you lot called him a fool and worse and never stopped to realise that YOU were the problem, and not him????
If tomorrow, the US Army uncovered a massive haul of WMD, bacterial weapons, missiles….guess what the VERY FIRST WORDS out of the mouths of people like you would be??
“It was planted”
I’ve said this before and I will say it again.
What the Left have done over the last eight years with your willing and enthusiastic collaboration will come back to haunt you, your screeching and psychotic assaults on the man and the office of the Presidency have served to denigrate the good name of the United States abroad, and if the US is hated and reviled, you lot helped it get there.
NONE of you stepped forward and told Chavez where to get off, none of you stepped forward and told Sheehan to lay off, none of you ever to this day have condemned a film that dealt with assassination and used the face of a sitting President.
None of you would ever DARED have allowed that film into the US if they had used Barack’s face.
ADMIT IT, you sanctimonious, self satisfied, traitorous sons of bitches.
I swear to God that you will regret it one day..you have opened a door into something you will wish you had not, and set a precedent that is as sick, as it is deadly.
You and the Left and the histrionic, screeching demented moonbats have done more to destroy his name, and to throw the office of the Presidency into the mud than anyone else…the enemies of the US have had a field day with your willing and enthusiastic help.
Over the last eight years, you and your ilk have aided, abetted and with malice aforethought been the willing and useful idiots of the kind of people that glory in the deaths of US soldiers and would exult in the humiliation of the US both at home and abroad.
We have won in Iraq...we have done more than we ever dreamed possible..and then only because President Bush stood firm and refused to cave in to the shrieks of defeatists who wanted another Vietnam style debacle.
And you hated him for it. You salivated and drooled at the prospect of bloodshed on a massive scale.
You disgust me.
Where are the paens to the troops? To their courage? Where is the WH Press Corps and their thanks to President Bush for staying the course and winning a massive victory over the US’s enemies??
Where is all that press coverage in Iraq gone, why the deafening silence?…is it because the long hoped for and dreamed of defeat of the USA, so fervently wished for by such stellar personalities as John “Winter Soldier” Kerry and “Hanoi Jane” Fonda failed to materialise?
The press would never act against the best interests of the US…would they??..what am i saying..of course they would. And did. And still do.
Al Qaeda has been smashed. Their soldiers, dead, their commanders dead or captured, their hopes for an Islamic superstate gone forever.
And the sickest part is that none of you, not one, would ever have the guts to say any of it to his face. Even with the man in your presence, none of you would ever dare call him liar, or “Shrubya” or a hundred other vicious epithets.
You have proven without question, neither you, nor any of your ilk can ever be trusted..and your deliberate failure to subject Obama to the same kind of scrutiny that McCain and Palin came under is proof positive that the media does no longer report the news..it creates it..and does not care how many lies are fed to the public in the process.
Eight miserable years of you hating your own country, and a man who never deserved a hundredth of the vile abuse you have heaped upon him.
Eight miserable, sick, demented, screeching hate filled years.
I’d say you should be ashamed of what you’ve done to your country…but that’d be a wasted effort.

The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The same magazine that employs Michael (Qurans in the toilets at Gitmo) Isikoff. Here I promised myself this week I would be nice and I start off in this way. Oh what a mean man I am.
The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain’t happy and want a change.
So being the knuckle dragger I am, I starting thinking, ”What we are so unhappy about?”
Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all involved. Whether you are rich or poor they treat your wounds and even, if necessary, send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home, you may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of having a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes; an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don’t have and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?
Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn’t have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ”general” discharge, an ”other than honorable” discharge or, worst case scenario, a ”dishonorable” discharge after a few days in the brig.
So why then the flat out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells. Just ask why they are going to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book and do a TV special about how he didn’t kill his wife but if he did … insane!
Stop buying the negative venom you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.
I close with one of my favorite quotes from B.C. Forbes in 1953:
”What have Americans to be thankful for? More than any other people on the earth, we enjoy complete religious freedom, political freedom, social freedom. Our liberties are sacredly safeguarded by the Constitution of the United States, ‘the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.’ Yes, we Americans of today have been bequeathed a noble heritage. Let us pray that we may hand it down unsullied to our children and theirs.”
I suggest this Thanksgiving we sit back and count our blessings for all we have. If we don’t, what we have will be taken away. Then we will have to explain to future generations why we squandered such blessing and abundance. If we are not careful this generation will be known as the ”greediest and most ungrateful generation.” A far cry from the proud Americans of the ”greatest generation” who left us an untarnished legacy.
The alcohol soaked synapses of our mid-west Rotties have sufficiently dried enough for Terrible Troy, Imperial Centurion to check in with Management. With that I turn it over to Troy, whose blood alcohol level has dropped to below fatal levels;
Okay folks, that’s it for me for now. That’s my last article for the moment.
No, I am not going anywhere, but we are now down to the wire..and like any good friend, I am stepping back, handing you your ammo, and wishing you Godspeed.
Much as I wish I could be part of this, I am a foreigner, I cannot vote, so this battle is yours and yours alone…which is as it should be, anyway.
I’ve done what I can, tried to keep your spirits up (Not that you needed me for that, you are some of the strongest people I have known) and looked for things to keep you thinking, make you smile, take the edge off what have been, I know, some hard and difficult times.
Misha has been gracious to allow me a voice here, we’ve argued, we’ve joked…and we’ve been all too aware of what the future holds for all of us if the nightmare becomes real.
The Drudge Report this morning led off with a link to audio of Barack Obama on WBEZ, a Chicago public radio station. And this time, Barack Obama was not eight years old when the bomb went off.
Speaking on a call-in radio show in 2001, you can hear Senator Obama say things that should profoundly shock any American — or at least those who have not taken the time to dig deeply enough into this man’s beliefs and affiliations.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
Barack Obama, in 2001:
You know, if you look at the victories and failures of the civil-rights movement, and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples. So that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit at a lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it, I’d be okay, but the Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.
And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [It] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.
And that hasn’t shifted, and one of the, I think, the tragedies of the civil-rights movement was because the civil-rights movement became so court-focused, uh, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And in some ways we still suffer from that.
A caller then helpfully asks: “The gentleman made the point that the Warren Court wasn’t terribly radical. My question is (with economic changes)… my question is, is it too late for that kind of reparative work, economically, and is that the appropriate place for reparative economic work to change place?”
You know, I’m not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. The institution just isn’t structured that way. [snip] You start getting into all sorts of separation of powers issues, you know, in terms of the court monitoring or engaging in a process that essentially is administrative and takes a lot of time. You know, the court is just not very good at it, and politically, it’s just very hard to legitimize opinions from the court in that regard.
So I think that, although you can craft theoretical justifications for it, legally, you know, I think any three of us sitting here could come up with a rationale for bringing about economic change through the courts.”
THE FIRST CIRCLE OF SHAME
There is nothing vague or ambiguous about this. Nothing.
From the top: “…The Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical.”
If the second highlighted phrase had been there without the first, Obama’s defenders would have bent over backwards trying to spin the meaning of “political and economic justice.” We all know what political and economic justice means, because Barack Obama has already made it crystal clear a second earlier: It means redistribution of wealth. Not the creation of wealth and certainly not the creation of opportunity, but simply taking money from the successful and hard-working and distributing it to those whom the government decides “deserve” it.
This redistribution of wealth, he states, “essentially is administrative and takes a lot of time.” It is an administrative task. Not suitable for the courts. More suitable for the chief executive.
Now that’s just garden-variety socialism, which apparently is not a big deal to may voters. So I would appeal to any American who claims to love the Constitution and to revere the Founding Fathers… I will not only appeal to you, I will beg you, as one American citizen to another, to consider this next statement with as much care as you can possibly bring to bear: “And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and [the] Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [it] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.
The United States of America — five percent of the world’s population — leads the world economically, militarily, scientifically, and culturally — and by a spectacular margin. Any one of these achievements, taken alone, would be cause for enormous pride. To dominate as we do in all four arenas has no historical precedent. That we have achieved so much in so many areas is due — due entirely — to the structure of our society as outlined in the Constitution of the United States.
The entire purpose of the Constitution was to limit government. That limitation of powers is what has unlocked in America the vast human potential available in any population.
Barack Obama sees that limiting of government not as a lynchpin but rather as a fatal flaw: “…One of the, I think, the tragedies of the Civil Rights movement was because the Civil Rights movement became so court-focused, uh, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. And in some ways we still suffer from that.”
There is no room for wiggle or misunderstanding here. This is not edited copy. There is nothing out of context; for the entire thing is context — the context of what Barack Obama believes. You and I do not have to guess at what he believes or try to interpret what he believes. He says what he believes.
We have, in our storied history, elected Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives and moderates. We have fought, and will continue to fight, pitched battles about how best to govern this nation. But we have never, ever in our 232-year history, elected a president who so completely and openly opposed the idea of limited government, the absolute cornerstone of makes the United States of America unique and exceptional.
If this does not frighten you — regardless of your political affiliation — then you deserve what this man will deliver with both houses of Congress, a filibuster-proof Senate, and, to quote Senator Obama again, “a righteous wind at our backs.”
That a man so clear in his understanding of the Constitution, and so opposed to the basic tenets it provides against tyranny and the abuse of power, can run for president of the United States is shameful enough.
We’re just getting started.
THE SECOND CIRCLE OF SHAME
Mercifully shorter than the first, and simply this: I happen to know the person who found this audio. It is an individual person, with no more resources than a desire to know everything that he or she can about who might be the next president of the United States and the most powerful man in the world.
I know that this person does not have teams of highly paid professionals, does not work out of a corner office in a skyscraper in New York, does not have access to all of the subtle and hidden conduits of information … who possesses no network television stations, owns no satellite time, does not receive billions in advertising dollars, and has a staff of exactly one.
I do not blame Barack Obama for believing in wealth distribution. That’s his right as an American. I do blame him for lying about what he believes. But his entire life has been applying for the next job at the expense of the current one. He’s at the end of the line now.
I do, however, blame the press for allowing an individual citizen to do the work that they employ standing armies of so-called professionals for. I know they are capable of this kind of investigative journalism: It only took them a day or two to damage Sarah Palin with wild accusations about her baby’s paternity and less time than that to destroy a man who happened to be playing ball when the Messiah decided to roll up looking for a few more votes on the way to the inevitable coronation.
We no longer have an independent, fair, investigative press. That is abundantly clear to everyone — even the press. It is just another of the facts that they refuse to report, because it does not suit them.
Remember this, America: The press did not break this story. A single citizen, on the Internet did.
There is a special hell for you “journalists” out there, a hell made specifically for you narcissists and elitists who think you have the right to determine which information is passed on to the electorate and which is not.
That hell — your own personal hell — is a fiery lake of irrelevance, blinding clouds of obscurity, and burning, everlasting scorn.
You’ve earned it.
THE THIRD CIRCLE OF SHAME
This discovery will hurt Obama much more than Joe the Plumber.
What will be left of my friend, and my friend’s family, I wonder, when the press is finished with them?
