Increasingly desperate that the Evil Rethugnicans won’t make the race-based attacks that he’s been predicting for a while now (remember: “They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”), the Dalai Bama once again decides that if they won’t blather incessantly about race, then he, the Anointed One, the one who has, in his own words, “become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions”, bloody well WILL!
Until he turns BLUE in the face if he has to! And stomp his feet too, you better believe it!

They ask me who I am considering voting for. I tell them that a lot of people died for my right to vote in private and its none of their business.
The phone bank got an ear full about my democrap congressman not listening to me when i told him to “Drill here, Drill now or be replaced.”

it’s easy, his mother collected food stamps while she was studying for a masters degree at the U of H. She was no welfare case.
here’s his resume, states he was an associate attorney with Davis, Miner, Barnhill, and Galland in Illinois. His cases primarily had to do with increasing the number of black supermajority voting districts in chicago.

I’m enjoying this little exchange by Obama. Sure, it’s reprehensible to have a presidential election campaign be about racial issues (though I’m sure Liberal Arts professors everywhere are thrilled about the resurgence in topicality for one of their favorite pseudo-histories), but the amoral cynic in me notes that the country is still 70% white.
So, yeah. Polarize the electorate according to race, Obama. That’ll work out for you. I realize most of the white people you associate with are self-flagellating disciples of academia who would vote for Cynthia McKinney if they could to demonstrate their racial bona fides, but you should know by now that your white friends aren’t exactly a representative sample.

I read the link. I can’t speak for Karl. There are too many moonbats being perpetually jerked around like puppets on strings by his EVIL ROVIAN MINDCONTROL RAYS ™ who are more than happy to presume to speak for him, and provide comic relief in doing so.
However, I found the article predictable. A criticism, one justified by observable behavior and words tumbling from the lips of the Annointed One Himself(tm) is automatically equated with racism (and yes, that is a fair conclusion when it is one of the tags that that the guy put on the article by Mr. Ridley himself). And oh yeah, I have to accept that this very different of the word than that I intended, simply because that is the perception by a person of color? Two words: PISS.OFF.
You see Deej, I make my living with words. I get paid to be precise, and I always endeavor to use the right word to convey the meaning or gist of the idea I am trying to express, because words have meaning and names have power. An imprecise word, one that is close, but not quite right, can keep you from swaying a jury, or allow an alternate interpretation of a contract, which might mean that even though my client is right, they lose.
I think that “Arrogant” is fairly descriptive. But don’t take my word for it. There is a reason we have dictionaries.

In this instance, I have to ask, how do you refer to a first-term junior senator who has barely worked at a real job, but has written two books, (one about himself), who, before he even has his party’s nomination, let alone the Presidency, attempts to speak at a venue made famous for speeches of incredible political significance by two Presidents of enormous stature[making pretensions to superior importance certainly comes to mind]? Who is constantly talking down to the same people who would be his constituency, telling them everything they can’t do or expect for themselves because we didn’t get the world’s permission to act that way or to have those things[overbearing and brazen-check]? And who puts his wife on the campaign trail to stump for him, but gets outraged and declares her immune from criticism for the things she says when she is taken to task for it[imperious seems to get it done]?
Arrogant, as is defined by the Dictionary, and not by a columnist clearly toting a chip on his shoulder, is the exact word.
Surprisingly, the same word seems to be appropriate for Mr. Ridley, keeping in mind the assumption he makes about the meaning of the word when it is applied Mr. Obama. Funny how that works.
You may wonder about this response. I’ll keep the explaination simple. I refuse to let leftist malcontents and the perpetually outraged keep trying to redfine words the words we use so they no longer have the meanings that they have been given, simply because they understand that by controlling the meaning of words, they control the dialogue. Not here. Not on my watch. Mr. Obama’s entire candidacy is a national tragedy. Instead of being offered a candidate of extraordinary character, wisdom, experience, and judgment, the Democrats will select a very young, very inexperienced, very clueless individual, who wouldn’t even be a blip on the radar if he were a white man. A candidate who knows how to invoke race guilt in people silly enough to believe that they should suffer from it, all the while implying racism leveled against him. The Sunni Awakening began because of the efforts of one commander, who later went on to command the whole show there, Gen. Petraeus. His efforts led to the Surge. Began with him and the U.S. Army, and without them would not have begun or succeeded.

DJ is a typical practitioner- although not a particularly adept one- of what the left is trying to do to language in the name of power.
The left, and the language and rhetoric they employ, are are an example of what’s been done to language since the 1960s. In the world of identity politics, meaning is ‘owned’ by various identity-based ‘interpretive communities’ under no obligation to appeal to anything but their own internal rules.
Essentially, the leftist interpretive theory of language boils down to “It means what we say it does, when we say it means that, unless we decide otherwise.” In other words, through little else than committed group will to graft their own interpretation onto someone else’s ’speech’ (whether that ’speech’ is actual words, or an act), they have attempted to seize meaning. Concensus-based interpretation- hermeneutically sloppy, and linguistically incoherent.
DJ demonstrates this by insisting- because he knows better, hermeneutics aside- what the intent of our speech is. He simply knows our objections, no matter how many times stated and restated for clarity, are not really our objections…they’re code for hatred or bias that we’re unwilling to express but still feel deep in the Jim Crow lobe of our reptilian brains. Y’know, that ol’ angry middle-aged white guy mentality some people bitterly cling to.
He knows it. You see, it’s not possible to simply disfavor a liberal candidate based on policy since their policies are born of superior

The degree to which the left has literally fetishized the ‘other’ (especially those hypersexual, dusky brown ones! Mmmmmm!) is astonishing. Take a listen to your local public radio or National Peoples’ Radio- any music played is almost invariably that of non-white folk tradition, or the same only being aped or somehow ‘celebrated’ by white musicians, e.g. Buena Vista Social Club. Look at the appearance of a big chunk of the participants at any lefty-oriented social event from a Phish concert to a street protest- dreadlocks, headscarves, and any number of cultural signifiers ordinarily associated with the ‘other’, like prominent body piercing or marking.
It’s of a piece with what I said about the left’s concerted effort to appropriate interpretational authority by means of appeal to identity. As they would have meaning controlled by identity-based interpretational communities, the ‘other’ is immune to any criticism whether individual, group, or cultural by non-members of their particular identity-based ‘community’ due to lack of ‘authenticity’. One example being the insistence by certain Islamic groups that non-Muslims are unable to interpret the Koran due to their lack of understanding of Arabic. Of course, this is easily debunked as the overwhelming majority of Muslims don’t speak Arabic- let alone do many Arabic speakers speak the antiquated classical Arabic of the Koran, Hadith and Sunna. Are those Muslims inauthentic, and similarly unqualified to make critical observations of Islam?
It’s exactly how certain pressure-groups have managed to insert- completely unchallenged- the now-conventional notion that black kids need to be taught by black teachers due to some nebulously-defined ‘African’ learning style that is not (able, due to some curious social handicap) being addressed by non-minority teachers. Or that minorities should demand proportional representation in all manner of spheres due to identity rather than merit- I demand a half- English half- Russian representative at every level of government!
