Meanwhile, In Washington

The Republicans want to talk about real solutions to the fuel shortage and energy crisis, but Reichführer Pelosi don’t want to, since it would most likely not help for American voters to see just how much the Democrats Communists are opposed to easing the burden on American families. Hey, they’re even willing to let gas go to $10/gallon without even considering doing something.
So what to do when those Evil Rethugnicans insist on exposing the Democrats’ Communists’ fascist plans to keep Congress from even debating the issue? Simple: They just shut down the House, turn off the lights and shut down the microphones. Can’t let any of that anti-social, counter-revolutionary stuff get on C-SPAN, now can we?
However, the Republicans seem to have found their nads and aren’t backing down:
Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and other GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi’s refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed at 11:23 a.m. and are busy bashing Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for leaving town for the August recess…
“This is the people’s House,” Rep, Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) said. “This is not Pelosi’s politiburo.”
Democratic aides were furious at the GOP stunt, and reporters were kicked out of the Speaker’s Lobby, the space next to the House floor where they normally interview lawmakers.
“You’re not covering this, are you?” complaing one senior Democratic aide. Another called the Republicans “morons” for staying on the floor…
The scene on the floor is kind of crazy. Normally, members are not allowed to speak directly to the visitor galleries, or visitors are prohibited from cheering. But in this case, the members are walking up and down on the floor during their speeches, standing on cheers, the visitors are cheering loudly. Some members even brought in visitors, who are now sitting on the House floor in the seats normally filled by lawmakers, cheering and clapping. Very funny.
Mheh.
Time to start getting the supplies ready:
Rope. Tree. Democrat Communist.
Some assembly required.

You’all don’t know half of what’s going up there. As I sit here in the land of Sweetness and Light (aka inside the Beltway) Pelosi is having a severe case of road rage. She’s ordered the capital closed down but so far the Capital police are resisting. They don’t want have video of them dragging Boy Scouts out of the House Chamber. A friend up there said that it’s a complete circus up there with tourists chanting and shouting. She said that some of the staffers tried to interfere with tourists videotaping the scene but were told to back off.
I can’t wait for the YouTube videos to come up.

Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he’s rolling.
Bluto: And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the goin’ gets tough…
[thinks hard]
Bluto: the tough get goin’! Who’s with me? Let’s go!

Bluto: What the fuck happened to the Delta I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? “Ooh, we’re afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble.” Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I’m not gonna take this. Wormer, he’s a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer…
Otter: Dead! Bluto’s right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.

I was there. On the floor of the House of Representatives, by invitation of an un-named GOP Congressman.
I hate to gush like Chris Matthews in the presence of the Great Obambi, but I definitely got a tingle up my leg. I felt as though I had stumbled into what the Congress is REALLY about, and was, perhaps, witnessing history from one of the seats in which so much of our history has been shaped. Very, very cool feeling, ladies and gentlemen.
The atmosphere was absolutely electric. Congressmen were pulling in staff, tourists, and even a whole troop of Boy Scouts that just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Must have been pretty cool for those kids to sit on the FLOOR OF THE HOUSE to see it.
The Congressmen tag-teamed speeches about gas prices, energy independence, practical conservation, and renewable and alternative energy with speeches about the Majority’s stifling of the legislative process in order to protect Obambi from having to cast a difficult vote.
They took questions from the gallery, which is absolutely unheard of in modern times. People stood, cheered, clapped, and chanted.
The Dems have given the GOP the rope. Now, if they’ll just hang onto their nads for a little while, hanging them should be a piece of cake.

Being a self appointed superior being, such as Pelosi, means never having to study real history.
Revolutions happen when the ruling class demonstrates how utterly useless they are to the decent working citizens they are supposed to serve.

DJ,
Just like all the other libs, you have no idea the difference between profits and profit margins.
Regardless of the price of crude per bbl, the oil companies operate on profit margins that are in line with the rest of American industry.
This whole “record profits” rhetoric is getting fucking TIRED, man. Yeah, they made record profits, because of VOLUME, not MARGIN.
Eeeeeevilllll Big Oil made some profits….but guess what…ExxonMobil, just ONE company, paid RECORD taxes last quarter. They paid more in corporate taxes than the full 50% of individual income tax filers in America. And what? You support the idiotic Democrat plan to impose a windfall profit tax on them? Yeah, good thinking, dipshit. Guess who that burden gets passed on to.

i find it difficult to understand how the oil companies can make more profit from buying foreign oil than from pumping it here. it must be cheaper to pump existing wells or they would not be doing it. if it is cheaper to pump here than buy someone else’s there must be another reason for not pumping the existing leases.
August 1st, 2008 at 11:23 PMUsing
Bullshit. The oil companies can do everything on their leased lands from exploration to testing but can’t actually recover the oil. Your envirotwerps and their legal eagles saw to that.
August 1st, 2008 at 11:36 PMUsing
i have been searching for information and best i can find is $50 a barrel from some marginal fields in Kansas where they are trying to find a better method of extraction. if this is correct it must be cheaper at the new wells. but even at $50 a barrel the profits would be great compared to $125-150. if increased production drove down world prices to $100 or less it would still be a good deal for U.S. oil companies to pump here. so explain to me why the “greedy” oil companies are not interested in another $50-100 profit per barrel. if they could only pump a million barrels a day more it would be almost a billion a year in extra profits.

Hi there, Imagine my surprise when I woke up and found 30 messages from this thread in my mailbox. :em02:
A few little things here.
1), I’ve talked with a couple of people on another forum and they are all in agreement that the “It will take 10 years” statement is a load of Go Baba. :em72:
These people have worked in the oil industry for decades. They are NOT pencil pushing dweebs, they are surveyors, geologists and engineers. In other words, useful people :em04:
I think they said it was either Sweden or Norway that made a strike offshore, (North sea), and they are bringing in new wells in about a year to 18 months. The same could be done here. They said worst case, (Provided no lawsuits), it might take 2-3 years to bring in a well.
2) Oil Shale. The most conservative estimate is 800 billion barrels available. Some estimates think it’s as much as 2 trillion barrels. That’s more then enough to supply the U.S. for the next 1-300 years.
3) Oil leases. I hate to tell you this, but the Oil companies don’t just “Sit on the leases.” When they get a lease they have no idea if there is recoverable oil down there or not. (The think there might be or they wouldn’t have applied for the lease).
They then have to do a detailed survey to see if it’s worth bringing in a drilling rig. This survey can be a truck running up and down a field, stopping and “Pinging” the ground to see what the response is. It can also be a few guys hauling around a portable unit because the truck can’t get to the area.
Once they have a seismic map, they geologists start examining everything. If they think there are reserves, they recommend drilling test bores. At this point a couple of years have gone by.
Now they bring in the gear and set up. Then they start drilling. It might take a year to reach the depth where they think oil is. Most of the time, they get a dry hole. They have just spent millions on nothing.
Now if they find recoverable oil, then the rush is on. They buy new rigs, hire people who k,now how to run them, set up the infrastructure and start boring. Of course this doesn’t take into account the communists and their lawyers suing everyone. :em96:
That takes care of Oil and the leases.
3) An enraged public.
The American people, including a majority of Californians, are saying it’s time to “grab you linen and start the drilling!” The United States is not a democracy. We are a republic. We elect people to represent us. Pelosi, Reid and the communists long ago stopped representing anyone but themselves. (I’m going to throw a few Republicans in there as well)
Again, on another forum, people are talking about what an Obama administration will mean. They are scared to death. They see Obama and more importantly, listen to him and have come to the conclusion that he will make Jimmy Carter look like one of the greatest presidents in living memory.
If Obama and his cronies get in with a filibuster proof majority, they will rocket this country into socialism. They know they will have two years at best. The suspicions are that Obama and the
DemocratsCommunists will re-institute the “Fairness Doctrine and probably expand it to the internet. (Say goodbye to Blogtalk radio, Stickam, Ustream, as well as political blogs) Rush Limbaugh and others will be removed from the airwaves, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they jailed them as well for “Hate speech.” :em12:Then comes the economic plans. First they will nationalize health care. You can expect a lot of doctors to quit when they are told that “So you are a neurosurgeon? Good. You will be paid $95,000 a year.” Due to the shortage wait times will increase and people will die waiting for treatment.
When I say nationalize health care, I also mean they will grab all the pharmaceutical companies as well. Those “Evil corporations” can’t be allowed to profit from the illness of others after all. That will pretty much end any research into new medicines.
Then they will grab the energy sector. Not just the oil companies, but all of it. Electric companies, Natural gas, etc.
You can expect the economy to collapse at this point. What these people on the other forums are considering is Civil War 2. This scares them to death. They know what this will mean, especially since a fair number of these people are former or retired military.
Their opinion is that if Obama and the
DemocratsCommunists institute what they say they will, they will have no choice but to take up arms and remove Obama, the congress, and most of the state & city governments. Now you might think that Obama would order the military to suppress the “Revolt.” Well here’s the anecdotal evidence that the generals will sit this one out.
3a) They do not want another blue/gray situation like the last time.
3b) There are members of the active duty military that are asking a question regarding their oaths. Under “Enemies foreign and domestic, what if the president gives the order to suppress the citizens? Would the USG be considered a domestic enemy? If most people are opposed to the policies to the point of taking up arms, what do we do?
The chances of entire formations either refusing to deploy or going over to the “Rebels” would be to great. The generals will probably say “Sorry, this is a law enforcement issue. Posse Commitatus and all that.” Basically Obama couldn’t trust the military to back his orders and in fact would have to be worried that they might move against him.
Law Enforcement agencies would have the same problem. While there are plenty of “Police” who would relish acting like storm troopers, a large number would refuse and probably quit. Those that went into the Gestapo/KGB mode would probably end up getting killed.
Ok, enough of that!!
Now for
4) Alternative fuels.
There’s a lot of interesting stuff going on. I just read that someone might have come up with a new way to store solar power in a fuel cell. It’s going through peer review now.
Solar Chimneys look interesting. There’s a small one, (A test site actually). that’s been running for something like 10+ years and has averaged 32 kilowatts day&night. A full scale models could generate up to 200 megawatts of clean renewable energy. There’s a company in Australia trying to get enough funding to build a plant.
Biofuels, and I don’t mean alcohol. There are a few companies working on using genetically modified algae to convert sunlight into oil. If it pans out, you could build farms of this stuff. (Green houses actually) If I read this correctly, it would take the area the size of Arizona to supply all the oil needs of the U.S. Obviously we wouldn’t do it to that level, but we could put a healthy dent into our needs.
Pebble bed reactors. Yep, more nukes less kooks. There are a couple under construction in China I believe, mostly proof of concept. We can also start reprocessing spent fuel rather then burying it under Harry Reid’s skinny ass. The U.S. stopped reprocessing spent nuclear fuel decades ago except as needed for nuclear weapons. Build reactors that can handle this stuff, (Like most of the other countries using nuclear power) and you have another big dent into our energy needs.
Hmm, this has gone on much longer than I planned on. I will await the flames of liberalism in response. (One cup of reprocessed coffee should take care of that flame!) :em01:

evilned. Absolutely EXCELLENT post. And Skye, I think you’re right. Which is why many, many things must be lost or stolen IF that shitpot communist gets elected. Mind you, as was also said, if he/they do take a sufficient majority, and we can survive the 2 years until they’re properly disemboweled publicly (hmm, wait. “Fairness Doctrine”. We might never hear truth.), and they haven’t removed the right to vote from “the People”, so that we CAN vote in a conservative majority and then POTUS,…*SIGH* :em98: :em72: :em98: :em72: :em98: :em72:

Bravo Zulu for the comments; however I consider evilned’s points 1-3b to be the optimistic scenario for our political future. It assumes that there will be resistance before it is too late. The probability of the elections taking place in 2010 are pretty small. Name one dictator who has allowed elections that might remove him, without major external compulsion. Allow me to dash a bit of cold water on the flames here.
Yes, it could go just as it was laid out, but I doubt it.
First off, we are not a 3rd world shit-hole, despite the best efforts of the politicos to make us one.
Second, we are armed, and more and more that situation is being perceived as right and normal. In other words, what the gunnies are doing as far as educating the public and de-sensitizing them towards open (and concealed) carry to reduce their fears, it’s working. Keep up the good work guys and gals.
Third, and this is the big one, we haven’t been fully convinced that Big Brother knows best for all of us and that we should just go along quietly. We are Americans, we are used to being able to run our sucks at will, and woe be unto them who would try to shut us up. We may be wrong, but we are gonna be wrong at the top of our voices by golly! And I doubt that any of the would-be dictators are skull-fucked enough to believe they could get away with it (for the record, I don’t think Obama is bright enough to be a dictator, I think he would be a puppet at best).
I could be wrong, it has happened in the past and will happen again in the future. If so, I will admit it. I’ll be easy to find, I’ll be the one loading the magazines (cause I can’t shoot for shit).

I guess the question is: If Civil War v2.0 is inevitable under Obameinführer and his Domestic Army, would more or less than half of the population support it? We have a LOT of totally dependent citizens suckling Gubmint teats and they’ll likely drink the Koolaid with gusto. We have at least two generations of public school-educated citizens who don’t know shit about our constitution or the workings of gubmint. We have dozens of urban centers waiting to be the next Katrina fiasco when the thin veneer of order disintegrates. We have the MSM who will gladly and mindlessly support the Joseph Goebbels-esque propaganda machine. Of course ANYBODY even remotely supportive of such an uprising will lose EVERYTHING, up to and including their jobs, families and lives.
What I am trying to say is this: Resetting rogue Federal, State and Local Gubmints will likely be met with fearsome resistance, not just by those with vested interest in maintaining control, but by your neighbors, friends… perhaps even family members. Prevailing would require an immense, sustained and FOCUSED effort. A half-assed effort would end in a Tiananmen Square disaster of Biblical proportions. Make no mistake, rivers of blood would flow. Revolutions, civil wars and coup d’etats are rarely peaceful.
I sense a lot of fear amongst the patriots. They fear Nikita Khrushchev’s prophesy has come true. They fear America is teetering on the edge of becoming a communist state because socialism has been shoved up our asses a little at a time. I fear this as well. Fear can be as motivating as it can be debilitating. We should channel that fear into milking the political system for all that it is worth. Since POTUS is essentially lost to us, we need to take back Congress in a big way. We need to empty the piggy banks and support conservative candidates. We need to pool cash and publish our own ads. Print our own flyers. Knock on every door and explain to our neighbors what is at stake in this election. We need to march on Washington. We need to expose every Democrat AND Republican fraud. We need to boycott the MSM and their corporate funding sources. Dammit, we need to INVEST HEAVILY in this election! Pull out ALL the stops because ARMED INSURRECTION IS FUCKING EXPENSIVE IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE WAY!!!
Can we really afford smoldering cities? Can we endure a lengthy struggle and a tricky transition of power while rabid foreign dogs drool at our gates? To preserve the Republic entrusted to us, YOU BET YOUR SWEET ASS WE CAN! WE ARE AMERICANS! ‘Nuff said! As our forefathers did over 200 years ago, we can do the same and then some - if need be. And “IF NEED BE” is the key. We KNOW EXACTLY who Obama really is. He is mere flesh and blood. An accomplished fraud. If we fight back POLITICALLY, Obama, his henchmen in Congress and the media are cockroaches beneath our feet. WE make this country run, not them. WE are the producers, not the takers. WE need to flex the muscles of our will. A lone voice here and there is like an bee at a picnic: easily dismissed. An entire hive of bees at a picnic commands immediate attention. I say we swarm the bloated Washington picnic! BEFORE THERE IS ANY MORE TALK OF ARMED INSURRECTION, WE NEED TO FLEX OUR POLITICAL MIGHT LIKE NEVER BEFORE! In short, we need to GET OFF OUR ASSES AND FIGHT!!!
Now, does that mean that you should abandon preparations for an armed conflict? Each must make their own decision about this. I personally believe the fabric of modern society is much more fragile than people realize, especially in the urban areas. We are but one national calamity away from total urban chaos. Katrina taught us that lesson. Stocking up on guns, ammo and provisions seems prudent regardless of the political climate. I will say this, if the gubmint suspends the Second Amendment… ALL BETS ARE OFF! :em12:

Sir Darth Scoundrel
There is merit in your comment regarding us being “americans” and not anywhere near as docile as the sheep from the turd world. We are a fickle bunch in that we have a deep cultural disdain against things we percieve as injustices. Who amongst doesnt gnash there teeth at the report of a child that was neglected by the very agency that was supposed to protect it? Who doesn’t question the taking of a child who is deported back to the very county his mother died trying to escape from? That is the majority. And it is a forest for the tree’s issue right now as the radicals have gotten a toe hold and are getting all the attention. But, I have to believe / hope that the moderates of both sides are in fact out there and once something so over the top sets the kindling to blaze, would speak out. We are seeing something of a litmus test with the Pelosi congress crapola.
I believe that the next revolution will be a relaitively quiet event (from a fighting perspective). Does anyone believe that Patreous would fight the will of the people to aid a socialist agenda? Do you think Powell would stand alongside Obama? No .. as a matter of fact I see the mil as being the centurions of the Nation that will be highly instrumental in saving it. There will have to be a catalyst. I think the attempted disarmament of the people would be one. And the ultimate resistance will have to be made… such as a State telling the Feds to get out of thier A/O. Or a large number of reports of fire fights with citizens refusing to comply and police officers refusing to obey. If the feds attempted to respond to that with force, I believe the generals would call it game over. So I dont think they will sit it out. I see mass defections from federal LE & local LE. The national guards are state entities, but again mass defections. Ultimately I dont see the revolution process as being drawn out, bloody, or overly disruptive. I think there may be a six to nine month scary time. ….
But then again … what the fuck do I know? … meds are workin good tonight!

I dunno, Troy… I trust Petreous and blindly, the Marine Generals. So many of the others are more politician than military leader. I’m sure there will be some that are more than willing look past their oath and lead warrior against citizen. As I have pointed out in an earlier thread, the Army is loaded with koolaid drinking Obamafobbits. I suspect a fair number of them would likely follow orders to take on citizens.
Still, I think if we consolidate our political might and demand that our leaders get THEIR shit together, we can avoid any kind of rebellion.

Major I absolutly agree with the last regarding the consolidation and demand that the leaders get thier collective shit together. I sincerely hope that the “stunt” pulled on Friday is just the begining of the “rebellion” Personaly I am so sick of fucking party politics…. you know? The party isnt the people…. the party exists to serve the people…not the other way around. Im a fucking american… not a liberal, not a conservative…. AMERICAN! I vote and think based on the issue. Not some fucking PARTY.

Guess I’ll say a word or two:
Major, Darth Scoundrel, Troy ol’ buddy, well thought out words you guys, that was well worth the time to read…..a good education too.
I quote Thomas Jefferson: “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. ”
My words won’t have that quality nor do I have the genius to say it with such elegance. We have been the silent majority for too long and it has led to what we see now, a socialist majority in congress that feels confident enough in the prospect of strengthening that majority that it blatantly governs against the will of the people they supposedly represent….That alone is reason enough to call for revolt, but what kind of revolt? Will it be iron sight revolt or ballot box revolt? We must consider carefully as there isn’t much time to ponder, we have an election in 3 months and if we wait until after that to decide our course then we will fail. This nation is being dismantled, in gradual not too painful increments, but it’s happening nonetheless. The question is, how do we arrest the cancer of socialism that is infecting our body politic and our institutions of education, information, and lawmaking?
I’m a believer in pre-emptive action, I don’t like things to get messy…..I prefer to prevent the fire before it burns my house down….the best action we can take before we lock and load is to take action and holler….loudly and repeatedly….at town hall meetings……at precinct meetings….on talk radio….at the front door of GOP headquarters…. tell the GOP national committee and it’s state branches to get the hell off their asses and go all out to turn this congress over to a GOP majority once again…..stop chasing bad money with good by financing McCain so heavily, because he cannot win. I hate to say that, but he can’t…..another old republican, tired and old….it doesn’t play well on the nightly news.
However…this congress is a fat juicy prize, even more vulnerable than in 1994…..and all I see is the GOP playing defense, afraid to come out of the trenches in a go for broke way. They can’t or won’t see the opportunity in this election, a democrat congress at record lows in the polls, giving the screws to 70 + % of the people who are demanding oil drilling. With the proper effort and backing, it would be child’s play to make the demoRAT’s a minority party for a long time….but it takes guts, and backbone, and it takes a damn the torpedoes personality like Lee Atwater or Karl Rove or even Gingrich to make it happen. None of them gave a damn about what people or the msm thought of them, or what was said about them in the polls…..they put their heads down and kept going forward, and they got results. It should be happening again, but it appears no one has the stones to lead the charge….can anyone name the RNC chairman? are the House and Senate minority leaders household names? where are they? why are they not grabbing every microphone and making their case? They should be out there everyday in the tradition of Atwater, and Reagan, and Haley Barbour and Gingrich, and stating the course of action that the GOP will take to make things right….why aren’t they doing it?
I’ll tell you why, ever since 1998 the GOP has been in a defensive posture, trying to minimize it’s losses instead of taking the offensive. That is why they’ve made such efforts to govern from the middle, thinking it will broaden their appeal to the masses. But that makes them timid….constantly sticking their fingers in the wind to see which way it blows. It diminishes the public’s confidence in them. We saw a brief, refreshing flash of courage and commitment on Friday when a handful of GOP congressmen led a minor revolt in the House chambers. There was no follow-up that I know of, and it would have been cool to see them get arrested and perp walked out of the capitol in cuffs, live on TV…..THAT would have made folk heroes out of them, but the fire is not there. They took the safe course and it made for great drama but nothing else, it’s already forgotten.
This is a nation that thrives on leadership, admires selfless sacrifice, and makes prominent those who show those qualities…..we want to be led by people like that. It’s what made George W so popular right after 9/11, he stepped up and led, he showed backbone and he didn’t back away even after the lies and propaganda against him became a blight on this nation and what he was trying to accomplish. Think what you may of some of his policies, but he has been rock solid on his leadership in this war and in not surrendering to our enemy….and I respect him greatly for that. I vote for people like that, and I am not alone.
That’s what obama is playing on right now, there is a perception that we are adrift and rudderless and alone in the world…..he promises hope and unity and a future, and he uses all the right words, words that hint at a better time ahead for this nation. They are false words, but they are words that we as a nation….manipulated by a socialist party and a fifth column press to be war weary, and financially uncertain want to hear. What does the GOP and MCCain counter those broadsides with? They spend their time and resources bad mouthing obama, and decrying the demoRATs lack of action. That is not leadership, nor is it gaining us any ground, and if that strategy is continued then I fear that we will lose our last line in this battle….and we will be routed.
If it’s a revolution that you want, then lead the way…..but make it a revolution of ideas and make your weapon your voice, call in to the local and national talk shows, go to campaign headquarters and if they won’t let you in then shout your concerns through the door, call congressmen and senators and governors and party bigshots and let them know that we won’t stop until we’re acknowledged. Let’s not think about armed revolt yet…..we play into the opposition’s hand by doing that, and they can use that to justify what we fear most….it’s always an option, but an option that must be considered very carefully and timed even more carefully.
DEUS VULT my friends, be loud and be clear. We will win this

Indeed jaybear, Darth, Major, Troy. Indeed. We may end up at war. Maybe not, let us hope. But if we do, so be it. The triggers have been well identified, they’re not at all camouflaged trip wires. One should hope them obvious enough even for the blind of the left.
August 3rd, 2008 at 9:05 AMI remain convinced that many, many of our brothers in arms would hold to their oath. I re-state that we have the intel, the comm, the tactics, and the equipment to have this whole thing done before the world knew of it.
Would that we not need use that option. But I will say once more: “Remember your oath of enlistment? REMEMBER YOUR OATH OF ENLISTMENT! ALL enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC!“
Using
If it should come to the unthinkable, perhaps the most dangerous phase would be setting up the new government. Who would be President or Interim President? How do we insure the nuclear arsenal will be safe and the launch codes under our control? How do we deal with the tens of thousands of bureaucrats and civil servants, many of which have already demonstrated their love of power and contempt of the constitution? How will we determine which congresscritters stay and which go? If there is so much as a mild stutter in the flow of entitlement checks, the cities will erupt in violence. Do we declare strict marshal law during the interim period? We have serious overseas military operations in progress. The transition period might be exploited by our enemies, requiring a massive response. Will we have enough ready resources? While I generally do not give an aerial copulation about what the world thinks, if we are attacked, would our allies even recognize the new gubmint as legitimate?
Of course, there are solutions to all of these problems, most of which will be painful. The point is that, while we may have the intel, comm, tactics and equipment, not to mention patriotic duty and motivation, the most dangerous part of the job is making it all work afterwards. With thousands upon thousands of pissed-off bureaucrats and civil servants that posses the know how to keep systems up and running… and seriously invested in the “old” gubmint, it won’t be easy getting them to cooperate.
I’m not saying that if pushed into a corner, the effort wouldn’t be worth it. I’m saying that if it does happen, we better damn well have a very detailed and workable plan once power in transferred. Obviously, changing the gubmint at the ballot box is the far superior option.
August 3rd, 2008 at 12:36 PMUsing
If the military removes the sitting govt. then they will probably move down the chain until they reach the one loyal successor. That will probably be someone in congress. I would also suspect they would want to “Clean house” as it were and round up the usual communists and traitors.
Personally I wouldn’t shoot them. I would just strip them of their citizenship and ship them off to France. They would fit right in.
If it comes to a CW2, the military would probably remain on their bases and let the “Rebels” sort it out. They would maintain the nukes and protect the US from the UN and their Tranzi buddies.

Well said Major, that was my point. evilned, YOURS was exactly how I feel it would WORK. And that’s why I say “intel, comm, tactics, and equipment”. We know who they are, the ones that must go.
August 3rd, 2008 at 4:22 PMLet’s take Turd Kennedy for one example. Or Pisslousy, or Reid, or Murtha. Turd may have a brain tumor from which he will eventually die. That motherfucker I want drugged into total comprehension for his firing squad. Going to Moscow to help Russia try to overcome the Reagan administration. Why, if it is recorded, is he still in the Congress? On and on.
We have enough good people in place to keep the nation running until we come back up to full speed. Without the monkey wrenches in the mechanism, the machinery would function much more smoothly.
By all means I agree. We must give the ballot box its chance. But the people will know when that has failed. If it ends up failing. It was invented to prevent exactly what we see all around us.
It has eroded a piece at a time, and stayed steady until the people became accustomed to it, then gone another stage. We can attempt to fix it in the same fashion. If “stage by stage” fixing doesn’t work, traumatic flush may be needed.

I think we are in agreement here. I see it as mostly a period of “passive” resistance, passive not in the historical sense but in the sense that shots will rarely, if ever, be fired. I see it as normal Americans finally getting fed up with the BS and congregating together at their local levels, throwing those “elected” out and electing replacements on the spot. Congregating at government offices and telling the bureaucrats within “You’re fired” and then replacing social workers with grandmothers who actually have experience at raising children, etc. etc. Congregating at police stations, legally carrying arms, and informing the police chief that they will not stand idly by while their fellow citizens are harassed and intimidated, so you’d better get your shit together or you can be replaced.
I see this starting at a local level, moving up to the state level, and by the time it gets to the federal level the politicos will begin to see the point and shape themselves up in fear of the “or else” being issued from the electorate. I see the military standing by to repel invaders and protect the nation from outside attack, and telling the politicos “Sorry, not our job, good luck” with the rest.
Passive resistance, American style. Why not, we have done everything else our own way, why not this as well? I pray that this is the way it will go, but the Navy taught me to plan for the worst and hope for the best.
And if the worst comes, I’ll assign myself as ammo loader to someone who can shoot. Maybe my wife, she’s a lot better shot than I am.

The Major,
Gotta question for you and the other medicos here. If we do get socialized medicine, what do you think the physicians will do? Will they protest it? Will they agree to work for government-mandated pay? Will they quit?
I will go to jail before I give up my physician and my ophthalmologist because I trust them both implicitly.

Well, I for one, have a plan to legally bypass socialized medicine. The Marxists will not be able to touch it because it brazenly exploits one of their most treasured sacred cows. If I did not have this as a back-up plan, I would seriously consider working abroad. I really love what I do, but dammit, I busted my ASS through undergrad, med school and residency, served 10 years in the Army making 25-33% of my peers in private practice, and currently make less than 1/8th the average salary of a major league baseball player. I still pay on the hefty student loans I needed to support a family of five through those rough years of training. I am STILL busting my ass with 12-14 hour days, call shifts and providing care for a significant number of non-paying patients. Socialized medicine will result in a single payer system ALWAYS subject to cuts at the whim of Congress and clueless bureaucrats, who’s only allegiance is to the bureaucracy. As is always the case with
poorly rungubmint systems, it will be hugely inefficient and there will be more work for far less money for those conscientious enough to give a maggot’s ass on a giant turd. Sure, I understand the lofty pedestal some in society places physicians on, and I do my best to live up to their expectations. Everyone also needs to understand that medicine is also a VOCATION. A way to pay bills, put kids through college and maybe even have a little left for those “golden” years. Imagine the screaming and gnashing of teeth if the gubmint tried to nationalize any other segment of the free economy?Well, getting back to answering your question… Some predictions: A lot of physicians will bolt or retire early. Some docs in already poorly-reimbursed specialties may be tempted to embrace socialized medicine, but I suspect the gubmint will continue to treat them poorly. Medical school applications will drop dramatically and admissions criteria will likely drop dramatically as well. The system will have to bring in even more FMGs (foreign medical graduates) to fill the gaps (Good luck understanding Hindi-fied English!). Rationing? Count on it, or expect the highest tax bracket to jump to 88% to pay for it all. Also, it will be permanent. There will be no re-bottling this very ugly genie once loosed. In short, kiss the finest medical delivery system on earth goodbye.
Have a nice day! :em93:
August 5th, 2008 at 3:47 PMUsing
And of course the “Political Tranzi Class” will have their own separate “But Equal” health care system.
I actually disagree on “getting the genie back in the bottle.” I think it could be doen very simply. Once people start losing family members who used to be saved and fully recover, they’re going to begin that unique American thing called Lynching. They are going to ge after the people who they feel caused their loss and basically kill them.
“What the hell?” they will say. “I ain’t go nuthin left for me. Might as well get even with them scumbags that murdered my wife/husband/daughter/son.”
I also think you might see a “Black Market” in health care start up. Doctors who “Leave the system” and start working quietly. If the government imposes a Hillarycare style system, a lot of federal types are going to need surgery.
Didn’t the original Hillarycare plan use the words Prison and prosecution a bunch of times in regards to people going outside their system?

Oh, Evil RottBrother-in-Arms… Name me ONE failed gubmint handout program that has ever been repealed. Once it is in place, it will be there until we tax and spend ourselves into third world status. We all know what a piece of crap Social Security is. It expanded well beyond its’ original charter and will be insolvent soon. Ever see any successful attempts at Social Security reform, let alone shit-canning it?
Single payer medicine is the CROWN JEWEL of socialism! The Demotrolls and their crotch-sniffin’ toadies in the press will ruthlessly villify ANYONE who tries to dismantle it. They will gloss over the inefficiencies, the cash “black hole,” the deteriorating standard of care, the deaths… and call you a racist, bigoted, insensitive, homophobic, misogynistic, child-hating, doesn’t watch American Idol, monster for even suggesting it. What spineless Washington Politurd could possibly stand up to THAT? :em98:
August 6th, 2008 at 11:36 AMUsing
My good major, you misunderstood my meaning. I wasn’t talking about the government saying “Oh we made a mistake and need to repeal this.”
I was saying that it would be more along the lines of “Oh shit! We really screwed up now! They peons are revolting and have slaughtered dozens of their betters. We had better vamoose to Eunichstan now and discuss this over brie and white wine.” :em58:
Basically i was talking about people with nothing left to lose killing these morons. Nothing clears the mind like the probability of certain death if they don’t take corrective action. :em93:
Now, I don’t know if this would constitute a handout, (Unless you count Al Capone and Lucky Luciano as benefiting from Government largess), but what about prohibition? :em03:
They finally figured out they screwed up pretty bad with that one.
August 6th, 2008 at 5:07 PMUsing
If you are talking about revolt, sure we could repeal it… along with overtaxation, idiotic gun laws, and every other piece of shit legislation shoved down our throats over the last 40 years! Public hangings of a gross of our more treasonous Politurds and whacko judges could be quite the motivator!
Prohibition really was a giveaway program for criminals, with NASCAR being the only lasting benefit gained from it. Well, that and we can all drink to our little heart’s desire. :em03: Also, It was a takeaway program, not a gimmee gimmee, and hugely unpopular from the very start. When socialized medicine finally does become a takeaway program, throngs of the holy helpless dependent untouchables amongst us will scream bloody murder if we try to repeal it. :em98:
