Joe D, our esteemed Canuck perfectlygoodairplanejumperoutofer, sends this lil’ gem from Blackfive of Marines doing what Marines do best, well, second best. Third best if ya leave romancin’ the ladies out of it.
Wolf- Just came from the memorial ceremony here at NORTHCOM. LTC (CH) Robert Leivers led the group in a ceremony here at the headquarters. During the ceremony, he relayed this little-known story from the Pentagon on 9/11:
“During a visit with a fellow chaplain, who happened to be assigned to the Pentagon, I had a chance to hear a first-hand account of an incident that happened right after Flt 77 hit the Pentagon. The Chaplain told me what happened at a daycare center near where the impact occurred.
“This daycare had many children, including infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do; there were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants that would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers.
“Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, ‘well, there we are- on our own.’ About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 others in tow. Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac and the Pentagon.
“Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing- they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off. Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children.”Wolf: The NORTHCOM chaplain then said- “I don’t think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there.”
I must say- there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted- could we expect any less from them?? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon I’ve EVER heard.
Wolf
Good thing the libtards haven’t heard of this. They would have said we were just saving our breakfast.
Good job Marines, Semper Fi.

Not hard to figure why the media won’t touch this. Defending those unable to defend themselves, protecting the weak, sick and elderly, yeah. I’d say that sounds like the United States Marine Corps. Good job, guys. One of those kids could have been mine, all were someone’s. I’m already a friend for life, having friends wearing the Globe and Anchor. That would have been icing on the cake.

Nicely done.
I think the reason we never hear of these types of things is that we have come to expect a lot from our military.
When they do something that is obviously heroic in its nature, it is often overlooked because of those expectations.
Luckily, sites such as this, bring the true nature of our Armed Forces, as in this case the Marines, to light.
Keep up the good work. :em04:

What? They didn’t eat any of them? Totally out-of-character! No wonder the Leftard Press didn’t report it, they couldn’t make an atrocity out of quiet, genteel, caring and selfless heroizm. :em03:
September 13th, 2008 at 10:33 AMUsing
Naah. What the libtard media would have reported was 40 Marines dragging toddlers and babies in cribs out of a safe environment (the daycare center), whisking them out into the open (where they could have been injured), surrounding the toddlers with the cribs (thereby giving them no ability to flee should the worst occur), then standing on guard to make sure none of them escaped. I’m sure the words ‘deliberately putting the chilllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllldrun into harm’s way’ would have appeared somewhere in the diatribe as well. :em98:
I agree with the rest of the commenters so far: SEMPER FI! :em04: :em04: :em04:

Great story, and not surprising at all.
Our Marines, and indeed all of our men in uniform are well-known (outside of the loony left and the Obamedia, but I repeat myself) for their irrepressible “can do” attitude. Not for them to sit on their hands and wait for somebody else to solve the problem. They see a problem, they get to work, doing all that they can to fix it. Not “later”, not “after careful consideration”, but right now.
Of course, since this doesn’t fit with the Leftstream Media’s narrative of our military being cold-blooded child murderers, we rarely ever hear such stories from them, which is why more and more people turn to the New Media for actual news.
Thanks for doing your bit by posting this, Crunchie.

I am not surprised in the least nor would I expect any less (Hell the only thing Im surprised is that they didnt commandeer something with guns on it to guard the wee ones).. but I bet they only reason they didnt was due to nothing of that nature being around.
And this is why I absolutly despise those that latch on to the occasional aberation of behavior within our services and try to paint it at representative of the whole.
I know that when the convesation of military service occurs when my son is of age, The Corp will be on the top of the list. :em04:

Just be sure the Corps is what he really wants Troy. They ain’t gonna promise him a rose garden, that’s fer sure, but it’ll make a hell of a man out of him.

Face it.
Marines are hot: Saving/protecting babies, falling on grenades to save their buddies, doing what most men on earth would never do.
The definition of “always faithful”.
That story made my day!

Well Crunch.. If I raise him right.. I can only hope.. in reality.. I if I can produce a honest, honorable, intelligent, mentally healthy, physically fit, productive member of society.. I’ll consider one of the service to my country check marks completed. If I were to live my youth vicariously thorugh him, I would want him to aspire to astronautics, mil aviation (with SOCOM) or Army Special Forces (officer, medicine, or weapons). I like SF for thier trainer roles during peace time. I just wish the fuck they would go back to the 62,63,64 quals for the Q course

I’ll leave this one to Ronaldus Maximus:
“Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don’t have that problem.”
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States; 1985
God bless the USMC.

From my brothers, I’d expect no less. One of the reasons I don’t fear death is because when that day comes I will once again be in the company of Marines.
September 14th, 2008 at 10:54 AMUsing
Another advantage of having the Marines stay with the children, if one of them started crying because she was afraid that the terrorists might come back one of the day care providers could simply point at the Marines and say, “Not while they’re here.”

Why is it that Deej never comments on posts like this?
Posts where someone has actually done some good?
So sad, Deej that you are SO hateful of the “right” that you can’t even post in support of humans doing something good on this earth. Oh, my GOD, that would mean that you are supporting the military….or, or kindness!
Hope and Change?
September 14th, 2008 at 11:28 PMUnder Obama there is none. In fact, he’ll dictate(through the Government) how we should act, and behave.
Using
SOP,
First Uniforms in segegate the noncombatants and secure their persons, thereby assuming responsibility for their safety. Next crew in evacuates the wounded. Third crew in fights the fires.
Anyone here heard that drill before?

I know that all the Marines I’ve ever met are people I would have no misgivings about leaving my children with.
People who read this story will have many emotions, but “surprise” won’t be one of them, except for the usual suspects, as usual.

Are the smileys pre-programmed by Wordpress, or is it possible for the Rott to plug in its own unique smileys?
I was thinking a Death Star smiley would make a nice addition.

I take that to mean “absolutes.” Well, how about absolute zero Kelvin–or the incredibly unvarying physical constant c (speed of light)?
September 16th, 2008 at 4:03 AMUsing
There ARE real absolutes, otherwise there would be no such thing as right and wrong. Gray areas appear for two reasons, both of which I will illustrate with the foundational ethic of human civilization: thou shalt not steal.
The first arises over the definition of “theft.” Theft is taking something from someone outside of due process. What is due process? An objective, rational system by which the State or an individual may claim a debt. Government or individuals smay claim the life of an imminent deadly threat to self or others. If the threat is apprehended without killing, the person(s) may not be subsequently killed, except as punishment through judicial proceedings. If someone steals my stuff, I may take it back unless doing so requires theft (like breaking and entering), thus I must call upon law enforcement to get the stuff back.
The second addresses the principle itself. It is rooted in the Orwellian aphorism “some are more equal than others.” The issue is not how theft is defined, but who does and doesn’t deserve protection from theft. This is an evil ethic that is rooted not in any kind of fairness but in the advancement of the self-proclaimed In Group. This is the ethic of the jizya tax, the wars of medieval Europe, and the McCain-Feingold Act.
To apply these observations to the Left and Right, one has to do so on an issue-by-issue basis. This comments thread could only scratch the surface; you could do an entire blog on the subject.
