Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!

We thought it was a case of terminal optimism on the part of LC & IB Ace when he, at one point right before the passage of the Communist Clusterfuck Bailout Bill, mentioned that the reason whassisface? wasn’t talking about the Democrats’ responsibility for the whole mess was that he was trying to push a deal through so he couldn’t, but as soon as the bill had either passed or terminally died, he’d be out there with it.
Granted, it would be very clever politics and it certainly would be the way to play it, but we just weren’t sure at all that whassisface? had it in him to “stoop as low” as to point out inconvenient truths about the opposition. That would be “mean”, after all, and we all need a “new tone” in Washington, don’t we? Yes, we’re a bit jaded by the pussy wing of the VRWC who have been reciting this demented mantra for years. “If only we play ‘nice’, the voters will listen to us and ignore the liberals.” You’ve been trying that for 40 years now. How is it working out for you again?
As a former leftist scumbag agitator, we’re here to tell you that’s the biggest load of ignorant hogwash ever uttered by anything claiming to be sentient. Trust us, we know of which we speaketh, because we lived it, unlike those overpaid, underIQ’ed airheads calling themselves conservative “thinkers.”
It is very true that being “nice” and “intellectual” plays very well to the intellectual core, we’re not arguing that. The problem is, the big stinking elephant in the middle of the room, that the vast majority of those who have the right to vote don’t belong to that group. They just want their MTV, their soundbites, and for the damn election to be over with so they can get on with their lives. Consequently, they spend a great deal more time to do what’s important to them, which is doing their jobs, earning a living and taking care of their families than they do mainlining politics 24/7 like the rest of us geeks. We envy them in so many ways.
And the “political junkie core” isn’t, has never been and will never be even close to large enough to decide an election. It’s those hardworking souls out there who just want to be left alone who can do that and THEY respond very nicely to political punches indeed. Just look at the inconceivable success of that gasbag Obambi who has less experience or actual positions (only positions that last for more than two consecutive focus group pollings count as “positions”) than your average garden slug.
Why is he effective? Because he connects. Why is Governor Palin effective? Because she connects. NOT because they can stand up and blather for two hours about the usual political rot speak and tired, trite slogans and talking points and NOT because they can recite, from memory, what the name of the third assistant undersecretary for yak milk production in Tibet was in 1958. NOT because they have memorized every single word that William F Buckley ever said or can recall, to three decimal points, the annual growth in GDP since the Civil War. And CERTAINLY not because they believe that hitting the opponent where it actually hurts is “yucky” or “stooping to their level.”
You see, conservatives don’t have to stoop to the level of liberals. To do that, we would have to start throwing around lies and smears which, to be sure, is an effective tactic as the Obaminable Blowman and his goons have demonstrated time and time again. But all WE have to do is to tell the truth. PARTICULARLY the hard-hitting, uncomfortable for the enemy truth.
And we were getting increasingly convinced that whassisface? wouldn’t ever have the intestinal fortitude to do that. We mean, after all of the years of yearning for glowing editorials in the New York Times than actually representing the conservatives who elected him, who’d have thunk that he’d finally grow a pair?
Our current economic crisis is a good case in point. What was his actual record in the years before the great economic crisis of our lifetimes?
This crisis started in our housing market in the form of subprime loans that were pushed on people who could not afford them. Bad mortgages were being backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was only a matter of time before a contagion of unsustainable debt began to spread. This corruption was encouraged by Democrats in Congress, and abetted by Senator Obama.
Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.
Perhaps there is hope yet.

I’d have been WAY more impressed had he voted against the bailout (I REFUSE to call it a rescue bill). Too little, too late.

could it be that McCain is actually more conservative than we thought? maybe he has realized that as president he can set the agenda and not just go along to get along? perhaps there is Hope of Change after all.

Well, he’d be hardpressed to be less conservative than I thought, and still be able to call himself a Republican. IIRC, there are a couple of Senate Democrats with higher ACU ratings.

Please dear L-rd, let this be a trend for the next 4 weeks and let McCain start to kick some ass. :em69: :em96: I want to see “Mr. Cool” start to come unhinged.

Either a hot coal bounced into an old boot, or someone’s thinkin’ about swingin’ back.
Sure would like to say “it’s never too late”,, but PALIN and whatzisbutt sure make it hard to.
I’m hoping they adopt the iranian method,, where dinnerjacket goes network with the noise, diverting attention from the real policy maker ( ali khomeini ) and serves as the attack dog- lighning rod.

How does he reconcile going after Obama and yet voting for the bailout himself? At my school, the consensus seems to be that had he NOT voted for it, his election would be a slam dunk. I live in conservative Nebraska (and we have one district leaning towards Obama…which is why sarahcuda was here this weekend).
Nebraska apparently apportions its electors (not winner-take-all as in the other states). I’d like to see us stay red.

Opposing that giant clusterfuck of a porked out bill was his chance to be the true heroic anti-establishment maverick he claimed to be at the convention. He blew that one big time.
October 6th, 2008 at 5:16 PMUsing
Exactly! And THEN he nails Obama and congress with it…
October 6th, 2008 at 5:19 PMUsing
I am NOT happy with the president, or McCain, or my US Senators or my congresscritter. My portfolio is sinking like a dead hooker with cement shoes. And now, top economists are saying the bailout PROBABLY won’t be effective.
Gee, ya think??????

Who cares? We should make them keep him.
October 6th, 2008 at 5:23 PMUsing
Skye…I agree.
Then I read “Recognizing the scope of the government’s intervention, Bush to reassure his audiences that taxpayer money will not be wasted.
The president added that the country has been through rough times before, and “we’re going to come through just fine.”
Earlier, in Texas, Bush emphasized that the program must be effectively designed and not rushed into action.”
WTF, over???

Well I hope the ol’ fart, who’s name escapes me, has the cojones to keep ripping Herr Barack “Mein Kampf mit der Wahrheit” O’ahmahprick new assholes on a regular basis. I mean, you CAN rip an asshole a new asshole, can’t you??? Seems somewhat redundant…
He shouldn’t let up until the polls close, but don’t be surprised if McWassisface folds when the MSM starts screaming “foul!” or starts tossing out the race card. :em98:

I’ll consider it a miracle if he ever says those words in public. I’m just hoping that the ACORN scandal explodes like a giant rotten pumpkin prior to Halloween. And it certainly wouldn’t hurt to keep banging away publicly about Ayers and Wright and all the Messiah’s previous playdates with them.
October 6th, 2008 at 5:56 PMUsing
I’ll believe the McCainiac is a Conservative when he stands in front of a bank of network correspondents and tells them, “you pimp for my opponent all you want. When I’m sworn in you will all be arrested, indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced, and hanged for high treason beginning with the staff of the NYTimes.”
October 6th, 2008 at 6:34 PMUsing
I like how you think, Curmudgeon. Treason is treason even if you are a member of the anointed, egocentric press. If America ever ceases to exist, the epitaph on her gravestone will read: “Here lies the greatest country to ever grace the face of the earth. The last hope for freedom in the world. She died at the hands of those responsible for informing her citizens. Requiescat in pace.”
