Was the family informed? Was a permission slip issued and signed? Did the American in question get to vote for his choice rather than the choice of the brownshirt Obamabot escorting him to the polling station?

Many times people, understandably frustrated by the hijacking of the democratic process going on before our very eyes and fearful of the consequences thereof, ask me “but what to DO?”
I’ll tell you a little story: Thee quarters of a century ago an Austrian populist had figured out a way to game the democratic process of a Central European nation. Using empty slogans, intimidation and fraud, he managed to get himself elected and, moreover, managed to get himself elected with sufficient votes to take over power altogether. All very democratic, all very much within what the system, not having planned for the possibility that somebody like him and his followers would show up, allowed.
His message to the people who got him elected? Hope for a better future for themselves and a profound Change of the way things were done in the capital. Nobody ever stopped him because, after all, it was the Will of the People™ and, even though some rules were bent in the process, overall it was just, you know, free and democratic.
Once elected, once given the imprimatur of having achieved power through democratic means, he abolished those means because he wasn’t about to allow somebody else to unseat him in the same fashion.
12 years later, millions were dead and a continent lay in ruins.
All because nobody dared question his rise to power. He was, after all, democratically elected.
It is an oft-used intellectual exercise to ask your students “if you had a time machine and you could go back to the point before that Austrian was elected, knowing what we all know now, what would you do?”
What to do?

My brother has “Down’s Syndrome”. If anyone tried this crap with him I would be a tad irate. He is 49 years old, mental age maybe 4, and has lived in a group home for many years. I guess after St Barack wins, he’ll just be “put down” since he’s not a productive socialist. After all, he draws greeting cards……makes a few bucks……not productive.
I hate to say it. You all know I’m armed and I am rather fit for a man 58 years old. I think we may have a reset in my lifetime. I pray I’m wrong……..I just don’t see too many options anymore. I am saddened.

Yeah, Gunny….kind of sobering, isn’t it? I always looked at the crap that went on in other countries, especially in the Third World, and said, “Nah…it won’t ever happen here.” And yet, we may be seeing it in our lifetimes.
That said, when we fought our last civil war we came out sadder, but also wiser and better, on the far side. Maybe that will happen again…?

Some of the kindest sweetest kids that I knew in the high school where I taught were Spec Ed kids with Downs Syndrome. They always remembered my birthday and would bring me a home made birthday cake…..they were so proud of their efforts, and I would make a point of slicing a piece for them and asking them to join me in singing happy birthday. I loved them all, when I was on the court photographing the school basketball games, they would come in with their teachers and I’d let them all take a photo or two of the action….then I’d post a couple of them up on the team webpage with them named as having taken the shot. You should have seen them beam with pride at that……and it just made my day to see that.

If Obama wins, this country and more importantly the ideals put forth by the founding fathers not so long ago, die. There may be an America come the morning of Nov 5th, but if we see “The Melanin Jimmy Carters” face on the News as the first (and only) “Messiah and Chief” … then it is well and truly time to seriously weigh the options, pray to the deity of your choice, and hope to god there will be something to build on again, after the dust settles.

My advice: If you are under 18, get older.

Thank you, Master Guns. I share your sentiments, including your sadness. My sister is a paranoid schizophrenic, a ward of the state of Arizona. On her meds, an angel, off them, a demon. Yet this was not her fault, or an act of drug addiction. She’s my kid sister, fifty years old, the youngest of the bunch. And here I sit, a fifty-six year old in pretty good shape. At least I’ve been told I have the physique of a man half my age. Amazing what no booze and quitting smoking can do I guess. Part of that is preparing for what may be coming. I think perhaps to buy more ammunition, not sure really. I quietly do these things, knowing that our police chief and mayor are both Marines…….
