Are you looking for the CURRENT VERSION of the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler?

I do apologize for being the last to do so… Well, no I don’t. I have to have the last word, you know. I’m the Emperor, after all. But I definitely can’t not personally wish you all a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Solstice, whatever you celebrate this time of year.

It matters not. What matters is that we’re here, that we have each other, that we have things to celebrate together and things to reach out to each other over when things aren’t so bright. What flavor our faith is, or non-faith for that matter, isn’t really that important right now. To us as individuals, sure, but to us as a community, no.

If there’s one thing that this site has taught me, it is that we can all come together. Not on all things, there will always be issues on which we disagree most vehemently, and thank G-d for that or I’d be bored to death, but if we put our minds to it, we can simultaneously have spirited, heated arguments over that on which we don’t agree and get together on those issues were we do.

I’ve also learned that no man or woman with a community like ours is ever truly alone. To be sure, we may feel alone when life overwhelms us, I’m no stranger to that feeling, but we aren’t really. We’re no further from not being alone than a simple reach out to those who care, and they’re all around us. And this community has provided me and, I hope, all of you, with a readily available and easy way of reaching out when the need arises.

It’s funny when I think about it. This site started out more than 6 years ago because I needed a place to “vent.” I never expected anybody to really read it, much less be interested if they did, yet here we are today. This site, founded to be all about me, isn’t anymore. And I’m grateful for it. I have learned so much, got to know people that I’d have never known otherwise and got to feel the love and support of people I’d never met but, most of all, I have accomplished that which most people never are lucky enough to achieve: I’ve created something bigger than myself.

And I didn’t even know what the heck I was doing when I did it, but that’s true for much of my life. Mheh.

I’m thankful for each and every one of you. I am thankful for those who touched my life and helped me become a better person, those who came and went, those who are still here and those who have yet to show up.

All of you changed and will in the future change me, in some way, and all for the better. We’ve shared sorrows, we’ve shared joys, we’ve wasted retarded amounts of time being just silly, and all of that has been an energy source that would not otherwise have been available to me.

You’ve changed my life and, more importantly, in some cases I’ve been blessed enough to be part of changing some of yours as well, to be part of the rock that you’ve been for me throughout the years.

And all because somebody finally talked me through the easy steps of setting up a website.

Funny how that works, isn’t it?

So I want to thank every single one of you, because without you this site wouldn’t be what it is. It is as much yours as it is mine, if not more so.

I also want to thank every one of the contributors on the Imperial Staff who’ve helped keep the free ice cream flowing when I was too busy doing other stuff. Without you, this would have been a boring place indeed. And not “just” because of you “filling in”, but much more importantly because of your unique perspectives. You can write things that I never could because I’m not you, and Heaven knows that you haven’t been anywhere near sufficiently remunerated for your efforts. The Imperial Pay and Benefits Plan sucks.

And a special thanks to Dave who for years has been making sure that the pipes have kept piping and the pumps have kept pumping around here along with offering himself up as a loyal punching bag. If you want an example of how friendship and politics are two completely different and unrelated matters, you need look no further.

We’re a strange gang around here, but we’re a great gang, and I thank you all for being part of my life.

G-d Bless You All.

Mish

Merry Christmas to all the Rotties. The storm we were waiting on has finally arrived, plenty of wind from the west, mostly hail and rain. It could snow. Good day to remain indoors, got the cats locked up, and sit tight doing some tube or internet surfing.

There is a kinship here… a shared fellowship. An honesty about this place. And as long as such a spirit and peoples exist, there may very well be hope for this country and what she stands for after all.

Merry Christmas and Happiest of New Years Misha, your family, DJ, “The Royal Contributers”, and my (and honored to be included among ya’ll) fellow “Rotties”. May this Blessed Holiday Season and the coming New Year find the gifts of health, happiness, and good tidings overflowing for each and everyone of you.

Close to a good foot of snow already accumulated over the past week or two. With a mix of rain/sleet/snow (followed by frogs and pestilence ??) in route for the next few days. Don’t know if I can take much more of this “globular worming”.

thank you for keeping the drawbridge down so we can all come in, track mud on the royal carpets, rampage through the meade hall, and generally be loud and unruly.

    Misha, thank you.

This little community serves as a refuge, research station, rallying point and stronghold. I have few titles, “Dad’, of course being the most treasured, but Admiral of the Imperial 7th Fleet honored me beyond words, and Bard of the Empire is a badge of honor beyond measure to me.

The intelligence, honesty, integrity, experience and humor of the denizens of this slice of cyberspace are beyond compare. I am greatly honored to be able to be a small part of it all.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Misha, and to all the Rotts a blessed season.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Rotties.( yes even you Mayim and Clog)

May the new year bring all of us much joy and continued fellowship, I know my life, as blessed as it is with my wonderful wife of 19 years, my 2 boys, friends and family, got alot brighter about 4-5 years ago when I found this place.

I want to take this time to thank you all for being here, to give me a place to discuss, learn, and grow.
Thanks for all the prayers for the situation we are going through now, we had a Christmas miracle that we really did not expect happen to us recently, a woman my wife worked with, and barely talked to or really got along with, sent us a Christmas card with some cash in it, was her Christmas bonus, and since my wife was fired from her job, and not getting a bonus, she decided to give it to us.

My wife, not one to take anykind of charity, tried to give the money back, the woman said if she tried to give it back that she was going to go to the school ( a Catholic school) and have the bonus applied to our kids tuition, so we didn’t have to pay it for a while.

A simple act of kindness from a very unexpected source, this is what gives me hope for the coming year.

Happy Holidays Everyone and as Mindy said, thank those whose service allows you to practice and celebrate freely. It is a rare gift.

Christians living in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip are holding only small, quiet Christmas celebrations after local leaders received warnings from Muslim groups against any public display of Christianity this holiday season, according to a Gaza Christian leader. “We were warned not to celebrate in the streets or ring the church bells, otherwise Christians would be targeted. We are living under a state of fear.”

We’ve just recently recovered from naps induced by overeating and having a major family gathering in our new home.

Before the blessing was asked, I informed the group that the best Christmas, or housewarming, present they could have possibly given us was their attendance. I thanked them all for coming, read aloud Luke 2:1-14, then asked my Dad, the patriarch of the clan, to ask the blessing.

It was a powerful moment. And Misha, reading your post was likewise a powerful moment for me. The Rott holds an important place in my life, and in my heart, and I’m thrilled and honored to have your friendship and the special responsibility of being on your staff. Merry Christmas to you, sir, and to all the Rotts I’ve come to know, and the ones I haven’t met yet.

Misha, whether you will admit it or not, it is you and your charisma that has gathered together this most excellent community. Your writing has so often made me think “damn, that is exactly what I was thinking, but it sounds so much better the way he has written it!”

The Rott is a home, a family of kindred souls. Just “hanging out” here has lifted my spirits so many times - I laugh often, learn something new every day, and now have a long list of people that I just HAVE to meet some day.

The Purple Raiders won the Division III national championship for the 10th time in the last 16 seasons.

So when do ya get the balls to play with the bigger kids? Think Division II might be a little rough? :em93:

Reminds me of when ASU was stuck back in the WAC (Wussie Athletic Conference), we kicked UTEP’s ass every year until the PAC decided in 1978 to expand…and then we made the Rose Bowl ranked #7 in 1987 (and beat #4 Michigan) and went again in 1997 and lost to Ohio State and…well I was there, and those two interference calls were…odd.

Merry Christmas to ya anyway. :em03:

You hit it, the Emperor is the reason we came by and decided to keep coming by.

His love of this country permeates his essays and posts. That he has lived through and rejected what he warns us about makes it more real. He could have sat in Denmark and bitched from there about what a poor lot he was dealt, but he went through the extreme effort of coming here and becoming a citizen of our great country.

That this only started 6 years ago amazes me. I must have landed here shortly after after he moved off of Blogspot (Just checked, and it’s still there by the way).

As the years have passed, the writers and all their styles that have become part of the Empire just keeps getting better. The font of knowledge I have drawn on from this site is amazing. The history, the insight, the experiences, the friends.

The Rott is a home, a family of kindred souls. Just “hanging out” here has lifted my spirits so many times - I laugh often, learn something new every day, and now have a long list of people that I just HAVE to meet some day.
